Found this online, it's from an Italian publication. Nothing really new here, but it's the beginnings of the press roll out in Italy. I know enough Italian from my opera training to translate that it refers to CCSVI as hope for a cure for MS, that the researchers do not want to create an illusion, however this recent medical discovery seems to give hope in the fight of MS. Dr. Zamboni is working in conjunction with the neurological hospital of Bologna and Jacobs Institute of Neurology at SUNY. The article mentions that with this outpatient medical treatment, there are specific reductions in fatigue, cognitive issues and headaches.

Here's Google's rough and approximate translation...
Multiple sclerosis is a light of hope of cure

BOLOGNA - They will still years of research, and experts stress that "we can not and do not want to create illusions, but a recent medical discovery seems to open a road to hope to fight multiple sclerosis, or at least have a weapon in more. There is a vascular disease, is called CCSVI (venous insufficiency cerebro-spinal), on which we can intervene successfully with a small surgery in day hospital, and now the research endeavor to investigate the possible links between the disease and multiple sclerosis. The hope is that improving the function of cerebral venous drainage, ie the treatment of CCSVI, can help improve the condition of patients with sclerosis. Have talked about Paul Zamboni, doctor and professor at the University of Ferrara, which has given the green light to research, and Fabrizio Salvi, doctor of neurology at the Bellaria in Bologna, which has placed Zamboni in its investigations in 2007.

Salvi had found confirmation of the presence of an alteration of the discharge cerebro-spinal vein in all patients with multiple sclerosis followed by the 'good' of the department of neuroscience in Bologna and studied by the group of Ferrara Zamboni. " But there was also an improvement in those who have undergone operations on the face of feelings of fatigue, in terms of cognitive disorders and headaches. The need to determine whether the overlap between multiple sclerosis and CCSVI had a chance or not Italian had to be collaboration with other institutions so he joined the research project including the American institute of neurology Jacobs.

Thanks NHE!!

good to read no promises but promising!

The hope is that improving the function of cerebral venous drainage, ie the treatment of CCSVI, can help improve the condition of patients with sclerosis
that is it for me, how can we expect the MS brain to cope with this too? the cause vs effect will work itself out with time...but meantime it seems to me--biased as I already did it--logical to treat it no matter which

Latest press release from Foundazione Carisbo- a foundation which has donated 200thousand euros to Hilarescere for use in CCSVI research-
Fondazione Carisbo
translation:

Multiple sclerosis, Hilarescere was born to help research and have so far treated hundreds of patients who have shown signs of improvement: fewer disaffected sense, the disappearance of headache and loss of cognitive disorders. Patients suffering from multiple sclerosis -while suffering from chronic venous insufficiency cerebrospinal called Ccsvi (blocked veins carrying blood from the brain to the heart). And it is precisely the assumption on the work of Paolo Zamboni, vascular surgeon University of Ferrara, and Fabrizio Salvi, Hospital Bellaria the neurologist, there is close connection between multiple sclerosis and this syndrome has led to the birth of the foundation Hilarescere, funded for two years with 200 thousand euros from Carisbo Foundation. "We want to support this promising avenue of research - says the president Fabio Roversi Monaco -. It would be wrong to deceive people, but it would have been even more wrong not to give opportunity to this strongly innovative idea. Zamboni presented in April in London on Ccvsi and has published research in the British Medical Journal.

One more:
I'll just post the translation, if that's OK... mi scusi :)
with a shout out to our American pioneers!
(ANSA) - Bologna, 22 MAY - So far they have been treated a hundred patients who have shown signs of improvement (less sense of fatigue, headache and disappearance of the drop in cognitive noise). Are patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) but at the same time suffering from chronic venous insufficiency cerebrospinal called Ccsvi (obstruction of the veins carrying blood from the brain to the heart). And 'own hypothesis, the result from the work of Professor Paolo Zamboni, vascular surgeon university in Ferrara and Dr Fabrizio Salvi, Bellaria neurologist of the University of Bologna, there is a close relationship between multiple sclerosis and that this syndrome has led the formation of a new foundation called 'Hilarescere', funded for two years with 200 thousand euros from Carisbo Foundation.
''We have funded this initiative - said Fabio Roversi Monaco, president of the Foundation - with a commitment to provide support to this line of research that showed promising characteristics. It would be wrong to deceive people, but it would have been even more 'wrong not to give support to a survey which values highly innovative''. Professor Zamboni presented in April in London on the first study on Ccvsi and has published research in the British Medical Journal.
And in progress - as explained by Dr. Zamboni, presenting in the morning in Bologna Foundation Roversi and Salvi - several contacts with American scholars who have shown interest in treating their patients with the technique practiced in day hospital to remove the venous obstruction and to study the therapeutic effects. Patient records have gone to America and Americans eight patients were treated in Ferrara. Now to find more 'sure - Zamboni explained yet - we have to set up a multicenter study with common protocol to analyze simultaneously the most' cases and also address the problem of blockage, especially for the jugular vein. Wow, what a great bit of news! I love the comment that "hundreds" have been treated. Thanks for noticing this was there Cheer!

I LOVE this part too
It would be wrong to deceive people, but it would have been even more 'wrong not to give support to a survey which values highly innovative''
People first!! It is wrong to leave people who are hopeless-like me whose options were nil--to not know this is out there, even though it has no pharmaceutical sponsor. Thank goodness for the philanthropist!

I can't wait to see the Hilarescere . org website and see what new information we might have regarding how many people were treated before the actual liberation study was done. That should be up the end of this week they say.

I have an appointment with my neuro on Monday, so the more information the better. And if the website is up before then, that's great. My PCP is willing to help, but he wanted my neuro in on it, too. Fingers crossed that he sees the light, or at least the possibilities.

Hi Needled,

Where in CT are you? I sent my mri's to Dr. Dake but want to do the CT scan in Connecticut and involve my local neuro and/or pcp. I'm in Greenwich.

Hi bestadmom, I sent you two private messages in response to your original one last week. I just checked my messages, and they're still marked as unread. Check your PMs and let me know if you got them. If not, I'll resend. I hope I didn't do something wrong on my end.
Regardless, I hope to have something positive to post next week after my appointment.

another awkward google translation, but you get the idea!
New info, University of Geneva is involved
PRESS RELEASE

THE FOUNDATION HILARESCERE
THE PURPOSE OF PROMOTING THE ACTIVITIES OF MEDICAL AND SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH IN THE FIELD OF DISEASES OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN.

BUSINESS 'SEARCH FOR THE TREATMENT OF MS: CCSVI, CARE AND DISCOVERY OF A NEW VASCULAR DISEASE THAT IS THE ASSOCIATED WITH MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS

The Foundation Hilarescere was born as a tool to exploit, by providing resources and links to a search for appropriate medical and scientific insights addressed to fully understand and cure diseases that are partly unknown.
As has happened in this first study, which was developed as interdisciplinary research between scholars.

The Foundation HILARESCERE, of which Professor Fabio Roversi-Monaco is the president, was born at the initiative of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio in Bologna.
The first study involved a research team consisting of the Italian group led by Professor vascular Paolo Zamboni, University of Ferrara and the group of neurological neurosciences at the Bellaria Bologna led by Dr Fabrizio Salvi.

Their research aims to investigate the mechanisms of activation of a disease whose etiopathogenesis is still unknown: multiple sclerosis. This has helped to have the tools to identify the precise contours science because of the cerebro-spinal venous (CCSVI) to generate an international collaboration with Marc Jacobs Institute of the University of New York and has funded a number of international publications.
Hilarescere The Foundation has created the conditions for doing science is that to ensure that the scientific national and international will to confront the pending discovered to have a definitive confirmation that the results of these first years of research are assumed.

CCSVI: research in progress
Are ongoing studies to further investigate the relationship between MS and CCSVI, through international collaboration between the Italian research team and the University of the State of New York, Jacobs Institute of Neurology in Buffalo, and the University of Geneva. Since 2006, the Italian group also carries out trials of treatment of CCSVI presented in London last April all'Imperial College. This further research is to determine whether new techniques for early diagnosis and treatment of CCSVI can also bring benefit to multiple sclerosis associated with it.

In Bologna Tuesday September 8, during Venous Function And Multiple Sclerosis, an international forum, it will allow the comparison on all subjects of the research carried out by the team of Prof. Zamboni, and complete presentation of the work done.

Intervene in the proceedings, among others, all scholars worldwide who have produced substantial data that validates or are associated to the data originally described by the Italian group.

Foundation Hilarescere

The Foundation Hilarescere, as stated in the constitution, aims to promote the activities of medical and scientific research in the field of disease etiopathogenesis unknown or poorly defined, with standard diagnostic and therapeutic low impact on the quality of life of people are affected, especially in the area of chronic and degenerative diseases of the nervous system and of the vascular, with particular reference to multiple sclerosis. It must also promote and support the dissemination of techniques for prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care to those affected by these diseases.

The intrinsic value related to the care and support for the sick of the territory, in the case of illness still unknown, is one of the factors that have particular reasons for the Casa di Risparmio in Bologna, which has acknowledged the reality of its territory and the formation proceed in an increasingly scientific in this field.
The creation and support for Hilarescere Foundation, is the instrument that made possible the realization, with the right means, of what was already a reality and its scientific credibility, while still in the embryonic stage partly because scientific intuition.

Linguistic note:
Hilarescere, from Latin, to hilarious, happy.
