Hi Holly!! I agree with everything Cheer and Lew said. I want to add that people can have extensive brain issues and still recover large amounts of funciton.

Here is a video of a girl who lost 1/2 of her brain

and my favorite one about a spinal cord repair after 85% damage
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 02675.html

this guy does the iron man nowadays and they show his MRI with the damage to his cord. There is much more possible than we thought, all it takes is for the disease process to stop so we can get on with it.

You've done all you can to get past the continual whacking of the brain by back pressure--I mean azygos and jugs? double whammy!--so now the rest of it begins! you are on the path. Note that even the young kids with the surgery take time to get better they key is to doit!
you are on the path!

Amazing. I am off work until my turn and thus am on here almost non-stop today. Watching those videos is really something. I dare not even imagine.

Thanks for posting those videos, Marie. Incredible proof of the plasticity of the human brain and spine. LOVE the spinal injury/rehab video! I just finished reading Doidge's "The Brian That Changes Itself"...full of similar tales of recovery from brain injury, thanks to plasticity. Marie's so right, the first step is to remove the constant reflux and attack on the CNS...then the healing and rehab can begin.
