Way to go, Cat. Regardless of whether you make an apppointment or not, I think you'll satisfy yourself by at least making the call and having more info to decide what you want to do. Please keep us posted.

I called Alex today and she did not have time to talk and said she would call me back later. Well she called and I could not get my cell phone out of my purse in time to answer. She left a message, which got cut off. I called back and got her answering machine and I left her a message.

It appears we are playing phone tag. I guess it will be Monday before she calls me back since her answering machine said she did not work on Fridays

Lord let me be patient.

Alex called me on Monday as I was driving to get my Tysabri infusion. So she too some info over the phone and said I need to write a history of all my surgeries and MS problems over the years and fax it to her for Dr Dake to read before he calls me for a phone consult.

Very exciting!!! :D :D :D :D

Now I have a question, I have my MRI's on CD's and he would like to see them. What is the best way to send him these MRI's? Should I download them and email them or just prioity mail them to his office??

Any suggestions???

I put mine in a UPS padded envelope and off they went!

Cat,
Me too. I made a copy of my MRI CD, wrote my name and the date of the MRI on it, and put it in a large envelope with the other information I was sending, and sent it via USPS.

Whew!! 8O 8O

I just dropped my priority mail off at the Post Office so Alex should have it next week sometime.

I have butterflies in my stomach just thinking about doing this and having relief from the headache alone!! 8O 8O It is very nerve racking and exciting at the same time!

Huh. I called a couple weeks ago, they were going to check on my insurance info and get back to me, but no word back at all yet. Since I am not sure if I shoudl go ahead with it anyway (since I am early on, in good shape, wait-and-learn from the pioneers, etc), I'm not going to push it ... if they don't get back to me, it wasn't meant to be just yet I reckon!

Zap

Alex said she won't check my insurance until Dake reads all my info and looks at my MRI's I sent. They don't want to talk to Ins unless they believe they can file it to your benefit. (Others correct me it I am wrong on this)

Have you sent in a history and/or MRI's?

Nope, they did not ask for MRIs or detailed info, I'd called them to see how my insurance would cover it as a first step, maybe I shorted out the process by doing it that way? Dunno.

Zap,

You may want to call back and talk to Alex about doing it differently.

I've been waiting to schedule my follow up visit and they are so swamped. Does the world of academics so real world quick paced etc etc is more foreign to these folks.? I can almost bet that there hasn't been an influx of special patients like us before?

My last email to/from Dr D there are 25 pioneers and he said there were 3 like me. Azygous and jugs? he did not elaborate.
