EGCG Question

If we can ever connect with Dr. Dake, we're going to Stanford. He tried to call us 3 times while we were at Mass Saturday evening, one time was on my mobile phone which I always turn off in church.

In the meantime, I've been pondering on iron chelation, finding rx drugs like M30, HLA20, and deferiprone, but also finding highly touted supplements for iron chelation like EGCG (in green tea extract) and circumin. Steve's already taking circumin, and I just ordered some EGCG.

My question is this---does EGCG have the same diuretic effect as tea? That's a critical factor in Steve's life at this time. Does anyone here have personal experience taking EGCG? Thanks, Joyce

Hi Joyce...
Jeff started taking EGCG last summer. It improved his fatigue and does not have the diuretic effect (as if you drank tea.) EGCG is a chelator, an antioxidant and a balancer of nitric oxide.
There's a study going on with its use in MS in Berlin
http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT00525668

Ursula was in the study and posting for awhile...I think EGCG is a superb supplement to take- Jeff takes it along with quercetin, curcumin and others...here's the program we came up with last year

Hope you hook up with Dr. D soon,

Cheer, Mucho thanks! Very good news. By the way, the salvia Jeff uses...is it Chinese salvia?

PS: I have a particular weakness for peanut M&M's too. It'a a vice actually.
