To All,
Holly's sister, Trudy, sent me a copy of the obituary - the family wanted it posted on TIMS.
We also now have a way to make a donation in memory of Holly thanks to the hard work of Cheryle aka "Needled".

Holly's Obituary
Holly Elizabeth Shean, born December 18, 1958, died on August 19,
2009. She is survived by her parents, James and Dorothy Shean, her
three sisters Trudy Roughgarden, Jill Griffith and Laura Walker, her nephew Tim Roughgarden,
niece Veronica Kirkland, great-nephew Wesley Kirkland, and her loving companion John Blaise.
Holly grew up in Levittown, Pa., graduate from Neshaminy high school and attended
Bucks County Community College. She moved to Chicago, where she
received her Bachelor of Arts and Master's Degrees in Marketing from North Park College.
After 20 years in Chicago, and having been
diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, she moved to Prescott, Arizona, a
state she discovered and fell in love with at age 14. Holly's passions
were travelling (especially with her good friend Kathy), music, visual
arts, animals , Native American culture and The Grateful Dead. She was
also passionate about MS research and in constant communication with
doctors and others with MS. PLeas make any donations in Holly's
memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Making a Donation
Dr. Dake has a fund in place. “The MS Innovations Fund is dedicated to the development of novel therapeutic approaches for the treatment of patients with Multiple Sclerosis and related neurodegenerative disorders through the exploration of associations with arterial and venous abnormalities. The Innovations Fund supplies resources to support both preclinical and translational research that directly impacts patients by providing leading edge management strategies. These therapies are based on new understandings of the factors that cause and influence the progression of multiple sclerosis. The Fund provides assistance for the purchase of laboratory equipment, database management, clinical trial coordination, and other important contributions that benefit the pursuit of new therapeutic paradigms to help MS patients and their families.”

There are three ways to make a donation:

1. Call Stanford toll-free at 866-543-0243. Please be sure to say that the donation is in memory of Holly Shean for Dr. Dake's "MS Innovations Fund."

2. Send a check payable to Stanford University and mail it to Stanford University, Office of Development, Gift Processing, 326 Galvez Street, Stanford, CA 94305-6105. Please be sure to write on the check that the donation is in memory of Holly Shean for Dr. Dake's "MS Innovations Fund."

3. On-line at www.givingtostanford.stanford.edu. Click on the red box in the lower right hand corner, "Make A Gift Now," then click on "Other" to select the school or group to which you wish to make a gift. On the next screen, under "Further Designation," click on "Other Designation." Complete the next three questions. Then where they ask if the gift in is someone’s honor or memory, leave it as “No.” Next go to the "Special Instructions" box, and type in “This donation is made in memory of Holly Shean for Dr. Michael Dake’s “MS Innovations Fund.” Please note that although the donation is in memory of Holly, if you click yes in that box, the next screen will ask for information on who should be notified of your gift. Stanford will have that information. Because you have already given Holly’s name in the “Special Instructions” box, Holly’s family will be notified of your gift even though you haven’t checked “yes” in the “in memory of” box. Click on continue and finish filling out your information

I have made my donation by going online. Cheryle's directions worked perfectly.
Thanks again Cheryle for making the phone calls and getting everything tied together. TIMS members are incredible!

Dear All.
I am new here and have entered after Holly has been here.
I would like to respectfully ask about Holly and her history without offending anyone. I realize she did not know me.
I apologize if there is a place here to find it, I just can't find her info or what happened?
If I am overstepping my bounds, please let me know.
Curious of course and most sorry for everyone's loss.
Sincerely, Rose

I made my donation to Stanford in Holly's memory for Dr. Dake's Ms Innovations Fund.

I challenge everyone who can to do the same.

What a blessing Holly was to our community here at TIMS.

This is great. I had asked Prof Dake several times if there was a vascular research fund...and now, thanks to Holly, there is. Yay. Dollars on their way!
