Lesion location relating to stenosis location?

Hi-

I'm new here, and have spent 2 days reading a lot of the material. I'm exhausted, but in a good way. I made it through the 50+ page original thread, and a lot of the other threads. Thanks to all of you who are contributing and being guinea pigs! This is exciting stuff.

I'm very interested in the procedure, and have emailed Dr. Dake's office.

My diagnosis of MS was based on c-spine and t-spine lesions. Only one abnormality showed in brain MRI - not enough for initial diagnosis. I have been searching for info on brain vs spine lesions and how that might relate to stenosis location and haven't found anything... or maybe I overlooked it here.

Has anyone had the stents put in who mainly has lesions on the spine, and if so was the location of stenosis different than for others who mainly have lesions in the brain?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

Normally there is a connection between lesions and veins, e.g. Dawson's fingers in the brain are typical for a problem with the jugulars. Lower lesions in the spine should have to do something with the azygos whereas higher spine lesions e.g. at the level of atlas or axis could have their origin in a problem concerning the jugulars. But that's just a rough distinction and I'm no expert. But I also digged for the problem as I have lesions in the spine, too.

Unfortunately there aren't many special reports about the lesions in the spine and CCSVI. The best overview is imho this by Dr. Schelling: http://www.ms-info.net/evo/msmanu/839.htm

You might also find the images of this presentation helpful, especially about the azygos:

(only a part is in spanish, I downloaded the file as I didn't make it to view the whole presentation online).

Hope this helps!
