Is this an available SWI "alternative", on a GE?

I am guessing getting a response from Dr Haake will be a long wait at the moment, so I am hoping someone else may be able to clarify this point.

I have been speaking to a neuro and radiologist regarding Dr Haake's protocols. The radiologist said that he does not have easy access to a Siemns machine, however, he said that a "SWAN" scan on a GE MR machine is similar. I checked it out on the web, and it would appear at first glance to be good.

With SWAN, you can:
•Visualize major vessels and large vascular structures.
•Reproducibly image and accurately delineate small vessels and microbleeds.
•Assess iron and calcium deposits in tissue.
•Consistently generate exquisite images with this push-button, robust acquisition and automatic reconstruction algorithm.
•Image the whole brain in 3D high resolution in just 4 minutes.
•Make more accurate, more confident differential diagnoses in patients with hemorrhages, cerebrovascular and ischemic brain diseases, traumatic brain injuries, arteriovenous malformations, neurodegenerative diseases and a variety of other lesions.
Any thoughts?

I received a response from 'info.mrimaging@gmail.com', which basically said that SWAN is not SWI, but GE sites can collect the same parameters as SWI and save the magnitude and phase data and then we can create SWI from that data.

Hopefully the radiologist will agree to do the scans, with the extra data as well.

Now that is a great development at this early stage of the game. I wonder if GE would be interested in funding some kinds of studies to get their machine more market share?

Good one Cure!
