was my first MS symptom vascular..?

My first sign of MS was a vascular issue…

In 2000 I had a stroke-like attack: I fully bended down and when i took an upright position again 4-5 seconds later my left arm started to crooking on its own and my left leg started to stretching out. I was felling to the ground and started to shout for help. I felt that my speaking was also touched, and also my eyes were looking squinted.
these symptoms were present for cca 30 seconds and started to diminish and then vanished fully. My mind was clear all the time
I went to the hospital and was examined for everything: on brain MRI there was a really small spot (cca 4-5 mm diameter) which was the only irregularity found.
I was very fat at that time, smoking, no sport, no healthy food. and a little-bit high blood pressure was present. they said it was a mini-stroke or TIA. But, hey i was just 25 years old!
My MS came into the picture just 4-5 moths later: pins and needles in my hand, and burning sensations: a second MRI a year later found classical MS lesions, and i had the diagnosis: MS. I asked about the stroke-like episode, but they said its another story, its independent from my MS. but i couldn't believe it for years, was always asking my neuros about this stroke like story: no answer…. until Dr. Zamboni came :)

Learning about this CCSVI theory it looks like there could have been some kind of connection… because my first sign of MS was a vascular issue. strange, huh?

does it make sense? or a stroke mainly is about arteries and not about venous vessels?

Anyone with stroke-like episodes here?

thanks for any remark
Alex

(RRMS diagnosed in 2000, EDSS 3, feeling quite good, just minor symptoms)

PS: successfully arranged my MRV in Hungary, i expect it within a few days or weeks! and continuing the missionary work to spread the word within the universities and vascular doctors here …

Alex, your first symptoms sound a little like mine. This occurred when I was on sabbatical in Spain. The first time it happened, I fell to my knees when getting out of the shower. Next time I noticed something was when it felt I had a mini seizure. About the 3rd time it happened, I realized that it was just on the right half of my body that this was happening. It continued a few times a day for three weeks, then went away. I had no more symptoms until the next fall, when my walking started to get bad. 18 months later I was finally diagnosed with MS.

I have many MS symptoms, but interestingly it is now my left side that has become much weaker than my right side.

My first episode started with what, in retrospect, was almost certainly a mini-stroke, which left a good size lesion on my pons (brain stem). I got out of a hot shower and fell to the ground suddenly, and my one leg jumped around like a seizure a bit while I watched. Afterward I could not understand my GF when she tried talking to me, etc ... this was not long before my MS diagnosis, maybe a year or so.

Same thing happened to me. One side became very weak and I couldn't control it very well. Went to the hospital and they said that they thought I may have had a mini-stroke. Much later, maybe 2 years later, I was diagnosed with MS!

the important thing is that mine symptoms came right after a bending down! which clearly shows that there was a vascular origin

I was rushed to a hospital in a near-by city being sent to see a neurologist with stroke-like symptoms. The whole right side of my body shut down. I couldn't feel anything including swallowing. We now know that it IS vascular. So happy.
