Woo, hoo Lew! Such good news to hear. I learned my lesson the hard way too --- we just need to be patient and exercise within limits. I added another 5# to the lap pulldown bar last week - did three reps with the added weight and no problems --- will try again this morning at my class.

Keep on with those "happy days" -

Thanks you guys for posting all this helpful information. I am going to start working on my shoulder today.
I wanted to share something you may have already figured out, but it helps me. I had a really badly broken arm about 18 years ago and the doctor showed me how I could work with that arm by breaking at the waist. If you break at the waist, so you are leaning forward and just let that arm hang it doesn't hurt, even though lifting the arm into that position standing up may be impossible or at least painful. Back then I used this so I could get deodorant on, but now I am using it to get into a pullover shirt or out of one without hurting my shoulder.
Hope that helps someone!

Thanks Beth.
I will try that. My shoulder was quiet for a while, they my whole right sholder and arm down to finders went very painful.
Went back to PT. Helped a little.
I really need to get back on my laptop for year end today but it is killing me.
I took some Tylenol yesterday and probably will today. Don't know how much it masks and maybe I do the wrong stuff?
so hard to tell.

HA! Now I am sure I still have MS! I just read the post above and said, Gee, that sounds just like me, and then I looked and saw I wrote it!
I think keeping the MS excuse around is going to be helpful for alot of stuff. Sounds so much better than just the boring old aging brain! ha!
Anyway, another thing to NOT do with your shoulder?
The dog was barking, so I opened the side garage door to let her in, but the door was swollen from the rain so what did I do?
I did the right shoulder body slam to push it closed!!!!!!!!! Can you believe I was so dumb? Shoot.
Now I am back to Square One and I really was doing much better. So, I know it will get better if I can just stop being stupid. ha again.
Just got back from PT and will go again in 2 days. dam it.
I swear I need a keeper. But I have been asking for a Fabio type Keeper for several years now. Nothing yet. Don't Try This At Home! Rose

Rose,

I hope you find that the square one thing is only a tweak of your scalene muscles. It's easy at first to flare those guys up with almost any over activity. I hope it didn't put you back to square one, even though it may feel like it! After six months, I'm finally getting my shoulder in good shape and I can still over do it after all this time. I've been able to do a fair amount of actual push ups (couldn't even think about it a little bit ago) and now am building some strength and my trapezius is coming back.

But even with all of this, I gutted out the last few last night and tweaked that area right in the center of the back of your head right where your skull ends. If it's right there where you're feeling pain, just give it a few days rest and it will be back in business before you know it!

Just remember. If your SAN got tweaked, then the scalenes and the levator and all the big muscles around the area are all taking up the work of the trapezius. It doesn't matter how strong all those other ones are (well it makes things easier when they're stronger) you still can't engage the trapezius and the levator is the first complimentary muscle, and it's simply not big enough to do the work. So until that nerve fires enough to make your trap appear and work, you can yank your levator and scalene muscles out pretty easily.

I am not competing with Loobie - but, I am also able to do plank style push ups. Would not have been able to do these before the procedure because the toes on my left foot would not bend and I did not have the strength in my left ankle to hold the foot stable --- now that my shoulder is recovered, I can do the push ups. There is a negative to this --- my strength trainer expects me to do them now - no more modified "on my knees push ups "

Hi All.
Just my shoulder update. This probably won't interest you men, but I stopped wearing my bra and my shoulder got better!!!!!!!!!!!
The strap on the shoulder sends that whole area into a fit when I put my bra on! So unless I am in public, I go without and my shoulder is 100% better!!
THEN, my son's dog attacked my right forearm yesterday and pulled all those muscles in my right shoulder out of the healing place they were in and now I am back to square one AGAIN! I hate square One!
Really. unprovoked, medium build dog and she locked onto my right forearm and she was hanging off my arm and biting me!!
She has lived here for about 3 years and has been fine. A kind of shepard mix. Well, for 10 more days anyway. Can you believe they won't put her down even tho her shots are current? I have to keep her here at home in quarantine for 10 days.
I need to find a friend with a gun. I am just grateful it was my arm and not a visitor or God forbid, a child.
So, now I have a dog bite and no bra!! ha. and it is only Tuesday! Rose

Rose,

Sorry to hear about the dog bite and your shoulder. But I completely agree with you on the bra strap thing. Much better with out it!

Hang in there!

Gee, Rose - there are some days you just want to go back to bed - right?
Sorry about the dog bite - I am sure you will keep watch of it so as not to get an infection. The no-bra idea - I used a sports bra for awhile - wider straps.

Another suggestion - this is from my daughter who had the procedure. She has been going to Massage Envy and getting a trigger point massage. She said it has been amazing for relief and she was able to go up in weights in her body pump class last week.
