I just want to let you know that the universities in Frankfurt a.M. and Jena have started doing MRT 's based on Prof. Haacke's protocol and already a lot of people had/will have appointments. Maybe in time to come there will also be a posibility to get the procedure in Germany.

Thanks for that ana.....great news! It's always nice to have a "choice" in where you will get treated. The more countries doing this procedure, the better!

That's great news !! The more sites performing Dr Haacke's protocol the better. I guess Dr Haacke has been very busy getting other sites set up and getting all the IRB paperwork done. My December 7 appointment in Detroit was postponed because he is so busy. I am still patiently waiting to be rescheduled for Dr Haacke in Detroit.

Hi, I just forgot mailing the contact: it's Prof. Reichenbach in Jena and Prof. Vogl in Frankfurt. Especially Frankfurt has a big airport and is very easy to reach from any Europeen country.

If you're interested in getting the scans there just send them a mail. In Germany your neuro or GP must say you need a control MRT and then it is payed by the health insurance. So it will be probably the same in any other EC-country.

Is it the same a MRT than a MRV? Is there any difference?

As far as I know:

MRV = Magnetic resonance venography, a variation of magnetic resonance angiography http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_r ... ngiography

MRT/MRI/MR = Magnetic resonance imaging http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_resonance_imaging

MRV is a special form of MR (scanning the blood vessels).

In Jena and Frankfurt they do a MRI of the head based on the Haacke protocol but they also scan the jugulars and as far as I know at least the upper part of the azygos.

The Haacke protocol is for the search of the iron deposits but doesn't check the veins. So this must be done seperately.

I just had th first contact with Frankfurt, secretary of Prof Vogl, very nice and helping. She said that meanwhile they have app.90 calls a day wrt CCSVI, emails not counted....I am very impressed and it feels good that they still keep, so far, a caring and supporting approach even with this high number of people calling in. The secretary told me as well that so far the Software required for the scan has been installed in Berlin Charite, Frankfurt a.M as well as in Jena... good news ....so my husband will send in his latest MRT pictures and the diagnosis and then Prof Vogl will call us. We will keep you posted!and reading in this forum was a great and big help for us!!

I have an appointment for January 12th in Frankfurt. Prof Vogl is indeed very interested in CCSVI, e.g. when I contacted him for the first time and tried to tell him carefully about CCSVI and I was feeling like a petitioner his first reaction was that he thanked me for the interesting information and made me feel like I had done something for him!

He has been interested ever since in the information I sent him and finally got in contact with Prof. Haacke and as a result they have started with the scans based on Prof. Haacke protocol.

A member of our German forum already went to Frankfurt last week and he told that they are critical but very nice and open-minded. So I think this is a good level to start with because I don't think that too much hype or uncritical researches would do any good to CCSVI. I want only a fair treatment like in Buffalo or now in Frankfurt or Jena.

and will you get a scan of the venes as well as a scann for signs of iron deposits?

I plan to try to get a second additional appointment to scan more of my azygos vein because I have spinal lesions, too, in case the upper azygos shows nothing.
