So how are you feeling now???
Also, I want to know how you paid your way with the different scanners and Dr Simka? Was it always cash, and if so, what in Polish pulenks or whatever it is?? Euros?
Have to know what to take out with me in May......

When are you back in Britain, and have you arranged support at this end, i.e. doctors for yr warfarin like treatments...?

i'm Iwona from Warsaw. My Mom had the op at the same day as Stefan. She's feeling mch stronger than before. For more effects we must wait a litttle. I would be happy if i can help you somehow during your travel or being in Poland.

Iwona, you are a god send... So kind of you to offer your help. For those of us just about to go the Poland having your help will be invaluable. We all have problems with how to pay. Some of our banks will not allow us to pay with our cards, so I was wondering if we could get their bank details so we could transfer funds directly to them, but as I don't speak Polish I can't speak to anyone at the clinic about it.
If you feel that you can help in this respect I could send you a private message on this site with the kind of info that would help.
If the opportunity arrises could you find out for us?
I hope your mother continues to make good progress and we will all be looking forward to hearing about it.

Just to say you can pay very easy with most cards.I used my visa electron.
If you just let your bank know before you come there will be know promlem at all ??
My bank didnt know I was make a payment in Poland and my card went through perfectly so please dont let this be an issue because its not they have a card machine which you enter your pin code.
There would be know need to make a bank transfer ??

Why would your bank not let you pay by your card ?? strange

My Mom got a bill from them which must be pay over the next 14 days into their account. I know the account details. You can also pay by cash or with yor credit card.

One of the nurses speaks a little english so don't worry about that.

I don't think you will have any problem with your card. I'm using my debit card visa electron from lloyds bank to make a payments in Poland and everything is ok.

P.s. Stefan is my hero

Don't know Stefan, but I know two people who did have a problem... so I am trying to make sure I don't.

I was also worried about my visa electron card not working but it went through ok.
They do have internet access if you use online banking so could make a transfer online or like Iwona have 14 days to pay invoice.

I wanted to say about Dr Ludyga the vascular surgeon.
He spoke to me about what they are doing there and showed me many many emails from people who have had benifits from this treatment.
And thats clearly the reason they continue treating.
He said they would be happy for other doctors to come and see what they are doing so they can also offer this else where.
I have never met a more genuine caring Doctor in my life and can honestly say anyone going Poland will be in the safest hands with his team.
The other vascular surgeon is Dr Kazibudzki and Dr Swierad is the interventional cardiologist who are present in the treatment room.

I pray I will notice more improvements soon and keep checking my normally cold right hand but so far its been warm everytime and this makes me smile and gives me so much hope

Hi all,
I was with Iwona's mum and Stefan in Poland being liberated.

I just want to echo Stefan's words about Dr Ludgya and all the dr's and nurses, they are all very caring, professional and careful.
Dr Ludgya always operates on the side of caution. Anyone who is treated will really be in safe hands.

I am going to report on my procedure (in a separate thread and not hijacking Stefan's) as soon as I have something either positive or negative to say in terms of symptoms.

Note to those planning on going to Poland, the procedure is practically painless, I am a real wimp and I felt nothing plus the mild sedative they give you via the IV is great

thanks so much for talking about Poland. I'm going in June and it just feels more and more comfortable each time I hear from anyone who has had the procedure done there...

Stefan, I'm really happy for you that everything went so well in the end! I am seeing Simka next Tuesday 19 Jan for a doppler (at this stage only doppler since Simka is now full for MRV and liberation until mid 2011, as he told me today on the phone).

I just have a question on the above: How did Simka explain the negative MRV results of Dr Hartel as opposed to his Doppler results? I thought both techniques are used for diagnosis. Did Simka perform another MRV which was then positive (so Hartels technique maybe not the good one? I know Simka generally includes MRV venography, followed by angiography in his standard procedure)

Or did you see sthg yourself about the left jugular on the doppler screen - did Simka show you while he did the doppler-test? Or did you see pics showing from another exam? Usually one sees that from pics of the MRV or not? I am really excited about this , but also always very critical from nature , sorry...
