Hi Iwona, it is very exciting news to hear about your mother! I hope she has a lot of improvements and will look forward to reading about how she is doing! Mutley, one of the men who had the procedure last month, suggested getting the following sentence translated into Polish, to help in locating one of the testing facilities. Would you mind sending this sentence back in Polish?

"Please show me the way to the department of magnetic resonance."

I am gathering tips to make it a smooth trip when is my turn! Thank you, Brynn

Hi can anyone tell me if the Taxi accepts Euro or should I get zlotys ?

It's that I only go for 1 night/day for a doppler: the flight and shuttle-bus to Katowice is already paid, hotel takes my VISA and Simka will get 50 Euro cash.

I only need to take Taxi from the station where the shuttle bus arrives at around 23:00 to the St Josef Hotel (since do not want to walk 1 km at night...) and next day to the Euromedic Rolna + back to the airport. I would prefer not to need zlotys since do not know how many I need. So if the Taxis accept Euro, would prefer.

If need zlotys, will there be a visa or EC-card-machine at the Katowice airport where I can get some?

I think if you do not ask for a bill from the Taxi driver he will accept Euros but I am not sure about the coins. They can not change coins in the bank.
I am almost sure there must be a bank machine at the airport so you can get zloty from there.
The owner of the hotel Franz Josef changed Euro to Zloty for me without any problem and he was not trying to get better exchange rate at all. He was really fair.

What a nice surprise! I'm so happy to finally see you here! Thanks a lot for all your posts/communications with other friends that I found on several CCSVI forums (in different languages) and that made me decide and gave me all the info to go to Poland!

And besides your courage and energy, I saw you are even a lovely overhappy movie star! Hey, will I also be smiling that much on Tuesday ? Or only once got really the intervention? I have to say: organising the trip to Simka was the nicest B-day present of my life!

There is a money exchange office at the airport so don't be worry. Better for you when you have polish zl. Most of polish taxi drivers don't understand english :/

I already printed me a short Polish vocabulary from the internet + also practiced the spoken (it's great, you can even download for the MP3 player).

So I should ask the Taxi driver, when want to go to back to Katowice airport: Dzine dobry! Iele koschtuje do lotnisko ?

And hope do not need to say: To jest za drogie ! Just joking...

Hi Steffi,
I hope you will have a lot of fun in Poland.
I still have many problems but something is really better. I think this will be long journey just as my MS.
It is my day 75 today. I am sure I do not have any new symptoms.
I hate the weather changes in my country

Well, in the end we had agreed 120 zloty from the centre to the Kattowice-Pyrzowice airport. That was OK.

I heard s.o. else paid 180 (but from airport to centre). That's definitely too much! I would try to take the shuttle from the airport to the station + then take a taxi from there, depending which time one arrives + distance to hotel. If one is able to take a shuttle of course (maybe with wheelchair taxi is better).

Important to ask before you leave + better if you are in a restaurant to order a taxi than taking one standing around (seems those are more expensive). I was also lucky that Erika was there when took the taxi and could ask it in Polish (thank you so much!). But I'm sure if one writes down the figure is fine as well for the Taxi driver to understand.

Hi all,

Sorry for the delay in posting.

Well I am feeling the same as I did before the operation no changes for the better.

From viewing the CD of my procedure it’s pretty clear to see the ballooning carried out was not enough to keep the narrowing open on my left jugular.
And there is evidence on the CD that after the ballooning the narrowing closed straight back and I can see it’s still causing reflux.

Because of this reason I don’t understand why Dr Ludyga did not place a stent in as this would have seemed the obvious next step?

I have written to Dr Simka regarding my concerns and I think he will agree that in my case a stent is needed.
So I am hoping to be returning to Poland in the very near future.

For me I feel it’s best to get a stent next as ballooning is always going to carry this high risk of re narrowing.

Hi Sunlounger,
well, I am sorry you have to go again but at least you tried.
In my case only flu was a complication but "only" my fatigue went worse again. But I am 100 % sure I felt positive changes the first 33 days. I swear. After 50 days my walking started to be better. For example today I feel maybe 20 % of the fatigue from yesterday only.
Oh, we do not have it simple!!! MS is very complicated but I WISH YOU GOOD LUCK!!!

Hi Stefan, so sorry to hear that the ballon angioplasty did not work for you, it does appear that a stent is more effective in the long term but I suppose they use this procedure because it is less intrusive than the stents.

Ihope you get a second chance at this and that it makes the difference you are hoping for.
