I actually have done the same thing you did; i contact the clinic last Friday (feb the 28th) and they invited me for March the 5th..

Quite exciting! It also made me really nervous though, that is why I'm so happy to hear your great story!

I'm really happy with all the brave people that share their stories with us..

I'm scheduled for the procedure on March 23/24. i am soooo excited. my question to you or anyone who has been is how long did you stay in Poland post surgery?

Hi Cervin, that is wonderful news! I had my procedure on a Thursday and flew home on the following Monday. I read about one lady who had trouble getting her groin wound to heal so she ended up staying several more days than me, but I think that is an exception. My wound was only the size of a pencil tip within a couple of days. Dr Simka wanted me to stay in town 4 days following the procedure. We will look forward to hearing how it goes for you! Hi Cervin,

We had the OP done on January 18th. We could have left Katowice on 20th or 21th but we decided to stay there a few days more. The doctors will sugest you to stay in Katowice 2 or 3 days after the OP. If you are going to be there...can I suggest you going to visit Krakow? It is really beautiful and not so far away from Katowice!

Thanks for all the helpful information that you have given us.

I am going to Poland in a couple of weeks time. I think that my main concern centres around my planned departure date - 1 day earlier than is recommended. At this late stage it is complicated to change bookings to a day later - I won't bore you with the details. If I leave as scheduled at least I won't have to do much walking because I have a wheelchair and somone strong to push. Naturally, if I don't feel up to travelling I will just have to bite the bullet and stay for longer and book fresh flights.

Bearing in mind the fact that your procedure (with a stent) was slightly more invasive than a simple balloon angioplasticy, do you think it would have been feasible to have travelled back a day earlier?

Hi Nigel, are you asking me whether I felt good enough to have gone home on Sunday rather than Monday?...so three days following surgery rather than four? For me, the answer would be yes, but I certainly can't speak for you, of course. My naturopath doctor had me taking ARNICA for several days before surgery and then for a week after. It is good for healing and circulation. Have a wonderful, productive trip! Brynn

Thanks. A difficult question to answer because it is so subjective. I obviously wouldn't want to undo any possible benefits from the procedure but I don't envisage the journey home to be too difficult. I will obviously have to play it by ear and if in doubt delay my journey.
