Very one sided, non-factual and critical article, it even brought up it is unethical for him to moperate on his wife (which he didn't).

I don't have time this weekend, I hope someone writes up a well written rebuttal to this one sided article. It almost sounds like Colin Rose wrote it for them!

The article makes it seem like MS patients are to blame for wanting information about a potentially beneficial treatment and for asking their doctors about it and even, horrors, causing doctor's offices to stay open a little longer to respond to inquiries.

Notice also that there is no fact-based criticism of the CCSVI hypothesis but a repetition of the accepted MS causes theory, plus ad hominem attacks on Dr. Zamboni and use of strawmen like 'media hype' to blame.

Hardly a balanced article.

Background for non-Canadians:

On TV, the CCSVI story was broken by the national network CTV. Their chief rival, the CBC, ran a cautionary report a little later.

In the newspaper world, the CCSVI story was broken (more or less simultaneously with the CTV) by the Globe and Mail, one of our two "national" newspapers - usually, by the way, a fairly solid establishment, pro-business voice. The National Post where *this* article appeared, is the other, rival national newspaper (established, cynics used to say, because the Globe and Mail wasn't pro-business *enough*).

This is where you would expect the "debunking" piece to appear, and it's not surprising that they feature our old pals and familiar MS-establishment CCSVI sceptics Freedman and Savoie (who seems to have gotten even crustier than usual: "You have a researcher who hypothesizes something and dares call it the Liberation procedure," etc.).

Nice additional pieces of crustiness from the major MS clinic here in Manitoba, whose video presentations on the matter many of us are familiar with already...

But really, this is just going to get more people thinking about it, of course.

It is a shame that the same author wrote an uncritical piece on the National Post some time ago about capsiacin (cayenne) being a cure for diabetes (Diabetes breakthrough he said) because of the results of one lab experiment..ON MICE.

Words are not enough to describe my gratitude Joan. I just wish your facebook answer could be posted in papers all around the world so everyone could see who can talk and who can only accuse without evidence. No one knows if this is a cure and noone said so. But all critics seem to base their critisism on that "fact" for some reason.Thank you for helping us, for being a strong voice on our side and i hope that when the truth preveils we will be the winners.

Someone talked about the name of the treatment :''la liberazione'', that it could not be possible to name a medicatantion like this... I was thinking about : '' celebrex'' this is a name of an antidepressant?

They talked about the fact that if Zamboni would have donne this ( take care of his wife ....) he would have lost his licence.... Those are cheap argument.

Yes, the MS Clinic at the Health Sciences Centre here in Winnipeg. I skipped it since I thought I knew what they were going to say (turns out I was right). Anyway, I heard they didn’t even have wheelchair access (classy!) - and that they tried not to tell progressives (or the media) about it ahead of time.

It wasn't entirely negative, but the short version of their message is: don't change anything, probably not a big deal anyway, and even if it does amounts to something, expect to wait 4-6 years for any treatment.

It is the single biggest argument I have for trying to see Dr Simka.

And thanks for responding, providing the much needed link. It doesn't surprise me about not being wheelchair accessible, that hspital and this city are famous for that! I'm not impressed with our clinic-sorry but Dr. Mary belongs in a wax museum, don't know about Cossoy but was warned both are of the same . It's a club obviously, sadly. Doesn't help me as a patient.
