Injection Locations

Does anyone know where I can find a diagram of the acceptable locations for the avonex injection? i.e. a picture of someones thigh with a shaded area, for example.

I want to make sure I am 'rotating' sites, but I'm nervous about choosing a location that is not appropriate. Also, in what location is that nerve that I hear people talking about? I'd hate to hit a nerve!!

If I remember correctly, the nerve runs down the center of the thigh. There are also more blood vessels there as well. You definitely don't want to inject in the top of your thigh. I inject in the upper third of my thigh muscle over towards the outside edge (sort of where your middle or ring finger would be if you stuck your hand in your front pants pocket). I just alternate one leg to the other each week. If I forget which leg I injected into the prior week and happen to guess wrong (which only happens when I don't have my injection log with me), then I find that the muscle is a little sore after just one week. However, after two weeks when alternating correctly it's not a problem.

i took Avonex for about a year, yeah injection sites are no fun. the best place to do it in my opinion is around the middle of the thigh slightly on the outter part of the muscle, theres typically less fat on the leg in that area and more cushion for the injection.

Thanks for your help everyone!

I've been on Avonex for over 2 months now, and things are going great. I self-inject about 3 hours before bed time. I have some fatigue the next morning (probably due to lower quality sleep).
