No lesions, OCB positive, PPMS?

Hi,

I'd like to hear your opinions as my doctors left me in limbo for now. I am 27y old male.

All started last year 9/2012 with permanent dizziness and drunk feeling after I got back from vacation. I was sent to neuro by my GP. Neuro though it was from stress, she prescribed me some pills that could help me with dizziness (it didn't). My bloodwork showed passed mycoplasma infection and chlamydia (got ABX for that), Lyme test (western blot) can back negative. I got back to neuro as my condition haven't improved and I was sent to MRI scan of my head (9/12) which came clean - no lesions, but I have cyst in brain that could explain dizziness. A month later minor I got minor tingling feeling in my both hands and my muscles started randomly twitch all over my body. I went back to neuro, she thought it was stress but sent me to more tests - EEG, EMG, VEP, LP. All results were OK except LP - I had type III O-Bands. 2 in a blood and 6 in CSF, IgG levels in normal. Ordered another MRI scan on 01/2013 of my head + c-spine, which came back clean again. MS specialist said to me it doesn't look like MS as I don't have lesions.

I took antidepressants (2-3/2013) and my condition improved slightly. I don't have dizziness anymore. Sometimes when I am not rested I feel like I am confused. I still have random muscle twitches, slight pain in my leg muscles, and recently weird feeling in my right hand. Its not numb or weak, just feels weird, like its not mine. I am doing workout 3 times a week, running once a week 6.5 miles.

I am scared that I have PPMS, because of O-Bands type + no detected lesions. Would I be able to run 6.5 miles if I had PPMS after one year?

Thanks for your comments! (Sorry for my english I am not native speaker)

Welcome to ThisIsMS, sighmevp.

You have no need to apologize for your English; you speak/write as well as any here.

I cannot answer your question about being able to run 6.5 miles. I will only share my experience – I had four MRIs before lesions were finally seen on the last one. My EMG and VEP results were normal. It simply takes a while for doctors to determine the diagnosis.

As you requested, I offer my opinion: My suggestion is always that a person with symptoms of MS request that a doctor order a "fasting blood insulin test" – this is NOT the same as a glucose test. Excess insulin is a problem for many of us.

Hello,

I had another MRI scan of my head - one year after last one on 3T machine and result is (this is my translation):

About 4-5 lesions of 1mm size in paraventricular area. MRI report didn't suggested them as MS lesions. No lesions on C-spine.

Are these lesions typical for MS?

Thank you!

Hi there,
26 year old male in a very similar situation here. Any update from you? Interestingly I'm also a runner, but the drunk feeling and tingling and twitching has been gradually worsening.

Thanks,
Stuart
