Many years ago I was in a car accident. I had to come to an abrupt stop due to traffic on the freeway and the car behind me rear ended mine. I suffered whiplash as a result of the accident. I had numbness in the side of my face and it sounded like there was a small motor, like a microwave oven, running in my ear. I was diagnosed with TMJ and getting it treated helped to relieve my facial numbness symptoms.
