I was diagnosed with MS in 2004 after 2 MRIs, I had a lumbar puncture which came back negative and since then have been following a gluten free diet. I didn't really have many symproms until 2008 when my father who I was very close to was diagnosed with a brain tumour a week after I had my only daughter. The following year, he was in and out of hospital and each time I was told that this was it, he was going to die. He was divorced so there was myself and my sister who looked after him. He sadly died in August 2009 and it was followed by a massive flood at my house which caused us to have to move out. Since all this I have had terrible MS symptoms, Balance problems, bladder urgency, dizziness, burning in limbs, numbness, difficulty walking. I was told by the neurologist that I had had a significent relapse. I tried to explain the situation and he told me that it was through having a baby. I cant seem to pull myself together after this, I have been to Germany to have the ballooning procedure on 25th June and at first I felt brilliant, but now I am back everything seems to have reappeared. I am depressed, does anybody have any receommendations?

I would suggest that you try to deal with your problems one at a time - tou are a human being, not a computer. We are not nade for true multi-tasking.

The most important thing to start with is depression. It is a real symptom if MS and it will prevent you from dealing successfully with any of your other issues. You do NOT need a neuro for this, your GP might be a better place to start.

Mine put me on Pristiq (the new and MUCH improved Effexor) to deal with excessive irritability. It has done absolute wonders for me. Not only do I no longer bite peoples heads of at the least little thing but I also don't feel anywhere near as depressed as I used to. That allows me to deal much more effectively with all the other issues I face on a daily basis.

If you want to use a diet based solution then cut back on the carbs - all of them, not just the sugars. It can help balance emotional highs & lows.

Good luck.

i am so sorry that you are having to deal with all this.....

in saying that i have a friend who does support groups on grief... and she did a series for a tv show.. anyway i had the chance to watch this a couple weeks ago... amazing what grief can do to someone..

you are grieving..you are stressed...... and it can make you physically ill.... to the extent that some have stroke symptoms to then later go see a phsychiatrist.. to help them deal with the grief... this wont be overnight....

seeing your doc is a great idea..

hugs to you...
