Before embarking on a diet, say like the gluten free diet, would you check to see if you are allergic to gluten and other foods that you wish to eliminate from your diet?
I want to do the Terry Wahls diet, but before that were checking out and making sure that my husband actually is allergic to gluten, sugar etc..
Your views are welcome:-)

You could get tested by an Allergist with what is called the skin prick test.

Or you can purchase blood work at a number of laboratories, online.

Some that come to mind:

Also, in Terry Wahls' book Minding My Mitochondria, she says that she began a Paleo Diet, including Eggs, but never had blood work. I think she wavered a bit in her diet a year or so later, because she wasnt seeing any substantial results.

Then, she had bloodwork done and found to be allergic to Eggs, so she nixed them out of her diet. Its a fascinating book and her main argument is to do everything possible to cut down on unnecessary inflammation so that your brain's mitochondria can produce the maximum amount of ATP (energy) as possible.

BTW, that skin prick test picture of the dude's back is seriously extreme. I had mine conducted on the insides of my forearms.

I have been on the Best Bet Diet for five years now. When I first decided to go on the diet I did take an allergy test I found through the www.ms-diet.org website. You prick your finger and send a drop of blood to a lab in England. It showed milk was not good for me. But, I still follow the complete best bet diet, no dairy, gluten, low fat diet no beans. Since I am five years into this and doing fine, the diet is a great way to eat in general. Just so everyone knows I also have been on Copaxone these past five years. Dave
