Positive ANA and aneamia could mean Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). There is also Neuro-SLE which can mimick MS. It is an important differential diagnosis of multiple sclerosis!

I agree with Bob: optical neuritis is also considered a stand alone ailment.

I can't see why you should have PPMS?!? You obviously had an optic neuritis, which can mean you have MS, ...

I would prefer IV steroids, 3x 1000 mg Methylprednisolone or 5 x 1000 mg, and than complete discontinuation, no reduction in dosage with oral prednisolone. This is how I did it several ...
