I will get my urodynamics checked out. I must confess to not being familiar with that term. No worries on the looking down your nose thing either. I have had to fire many people for that too. I've been a plant manager for many years (I'm over the engineering right now because I can't take all the walking involved with running a plant) and I still completely disagree with any impairment at work. I don't even feel the slightest bit funny about doing it either since I feel I truly use it medicinally now. Like I said, if I smoke some when I have to move, it ain't happening. I have some easy ways to get by drug tests, but I haven't had to take one in a while and they don't random test management so I'm safe for now Laughing .

At any rate, I do have a sample Intermittent Cath and was thinking about trying it right before bed to see if it helps. Since I still pee by myself and am used to my nightly ritual I just can't pull the trigger. Imagine self cathing if you had 'jimmy johnson' Shocked . Doesn't he drive a car or something? Oh well, in discussions like this I usually resort to puerile humor!

Tell me in your experience with IC'ing was it more of a head thing or does it really suck as bad as you imagine before ever doing it? I'd like to know about anyone's experience with that. That portal has always been a shipping dock only, no receiving, and I must admit to being a wuss about trying it.

Well I think I may try it tonight. I want to drink some beers anyway, and those are the worst nights for me since my problem is not going, it's going all the damn time but only about 4 oz. or so. What do you wet it with? Kentucky Jelly? Let me know if you don't mind.

Apologies, I forget that there's differing types of supplements, minerals, vitamins etc. But yeah, only speaking from personal experience and what that did to me. I do still have magnesium in my compound, which is Glycinate 360 mg, but I am not experiencing the constipation now with this amount. 20% magnesium in this formula.

In other news, I went into where I get my Tryptophan, and the R-Tryptophan (R) refers to ratio, but it is in fact L-Tryptophan. In any case, I've always had a very positive experience with Tryptophan myself, first provided as a 'natural' sleep aid. True, it will make me very sleepy for the first part and sometimes I'll wake up at the 6h mark and be wide awake, but that's ok. I just get up and do my thing, and sleep again when my body wants to. Smile

Mine are lofric or some shit like that, you just put water on them. Some you lube up with some sorta jelly. When I was drinking heavy it was a definite help. I think I have only had a couple of episodes of wetting the bed. But the one I remember was right after we spent $4000 on a new matress. The wife was pissed but did a good job at hiding it.

Surgi lube I think loobie

sorry arti your post wasnt up yet when i wrote dat i was not laughin at your investment lol!

so. the 250mg. magnesium. what form does the label say specifically? that will determine the mudbutt potential. you could try 250mg in the morning, and 2x250 at bedtime.

for the zinc 50mg thing, when i was low and went to my doc, i had had my results by fax earlier, and had started taking a 50 per day. in the appt my doc said up it to 100. i said i tried that once and felt sick after. she said take one morning, one night.
so arti maybe try it that way.

and if you can, set up an appt with the doc - you could test your zinc levels now, figure out where you're at, and take 100mg of pills per day for say a month, then re-test. from that table i posted earlier, i think you're going for around 15 µmol/l.

i will try to find a magnesium target too, but might require some patience... i have a coffee arrangement, back later Smile

ok no worries. Smile just let me know what form your mg is.

here's some info, food sources, and titles of references

Quote:
Magnesium, in doses of approximately 250 milligrams, can help induce sleep. Magnesium deficiency is responsible for nervousness that prevents sleep. Magnesium-rich foods include kelp, wheat bran, almonds, cashews, blackstrap molasses, and brewer's yeast.
(mmmm now why don't i get enough Rolling Eyes )

Dosage: 1,000 mg daily.

Note: The lack of calcium and magnesium can cause leg cramps during the night. Calcium and magnesium produce calming effects on the brain. They are essential for normal sleep. Calcium and magnesium taken 45 minutes before bedtime have a tranquilizing effect. Use a 2:1 ratio, such as 500 mg of calcium and 250 mg of magnesium in tablet or capsule form.

also, just being super random here: ran a food search for highest in calcium magnesium and tryptophan (per 200 cal) - here're a couple options Wink

http://www.nutritiondata.com/foods-000118079120000000000.html
Quote:
Game meat, elk, cooked, roasted Calcium: 7mg Tryptophan: 746mg Magnesium: 33mg

Spinach, frozen, chopped or leaf, cooked, boiled, drained, with salt Calcium: 900mg Tryptophan: 594mg Magnesium: 482mg
(wow popeye i hope you like spinach)

and finally, some references on magnesium, RLS, and sleep (i haven't read em i just scooped em from someone's article; can't get links to all four quickly sorry)

Quote:
(8.) Durlach J et al. Magnesium and therapeutics. Magnes Res 7(3/4):313-28, 1994
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7786695

(9.) Popoviciu L et al. Parasomnias (non-specific nocturnal episodic manifestations) in patients with magnesium deficiency. Rom J Neurol Psychiatry 28(1):19-24, 1990

(10.) Popoviciu L et al. Clinical, EEG, electromyographic and polysomnographic studies in restless legs syndrome caused by magnesium deficiency. Rom J Neurol Psychiatry 31(1):55-61, 1993
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8363978

(11.) Penland J. Effects of trace element nutrition on sleep patterns in adult women. Fed Am Soc Exp Biol J 2:A434, 1988

so anyway, 3x250 per day might be over the top in the long term, so after a few days you may want to drop the morning one and just do 500 at bedtime

i think the milk and honey thing could really help too. it's not only good for having tryptophan. the calcium in it will play nice with the magnesium, but won't involve another pill.

keep us in the loop, as to how this pans out for ya arti!
