I got a leg brace yesterday and it is massively helping me to walk in a straight line and use my foot better. The physio told me that it would fit inside my usual shoes.

Bollocks - I went to work today with 1 flipflop & 1 bare (braced) foot!

I had to go shoe shopping tonight and eventually ended up with a pair of trrainers a size bigger than my usual - I don't even like them that much but it was the only pair of shoes in the shop that fit.

I went to my car and cried. It's the first time this disease has made me cry and feel this bad. I haven't spoken since and that was over 3 hours ago.

MG,

I hope you feel better soon. I can tell from the pictures of you that you aren't the 'poor me' type and you like to smile. I can't say anything that could make you feel better since the situation is what it is, but I just wanted you to know that your smile puts a smile on my face and I hope it's back on your face soon!

Oh Mrs George. I didn't have a brace but I have a shoe story. I was diagnosed during a terrible flare in March/ April/ May. My winter shoes would come off my feet constantly and I couldn't even tell. I had almost NO feeling in my feet at all. The weather warmed, and I continued to wear my winter shoes, because I could at least keep them on sometimes. I'd try my summer slip-on shoes on, and not for one step would they stay with me. I grew quite tired of wearing winter shoes in the spring, and eventually went to the shoe store and found sandles with ankle straps. I called them tie-on shoes. If they weren't tied on really really tight, even those would end up sideways. The next spring, Mrs. George, my MS was much better, and I marched myself to the store and bought slip-ons again. This year, the only pair of strap shoes I have are HEELS! I was sitting back in my chair reading your post, and as I read, I felt your pain. I sat up quickly and logged in to tell you to walk TALL, no matter what shoes you are wearing!
From your posts, I know that it has been a hard month for you. So cry. I'm sure we all do. I know I do. But then...
Always with hope...
Terry

I'm trying to get a mental idea of what this brace looks like, but as for footsies wear, I still swear by my Birkenstocks. I can wear em from the time the snow melts to the time it returns. They're as comfortable as slippers!

Not saying this would be a valid option for you or not.. as I say, I can't imagine what the brace looks like. If you can find a picture I'd like to see Smile

Hugs girl you rock!

I'll post a pic tonight. It's not particularly large & is pretty discreet - it's just a pain in the arse to get into a shoe!

Thanks for you replies - I was feeling pretty down last night. Much chirpier now! Got my hubby all in a tis though - don't think i spoke for over 4 hours!

Oooh la la! Yeah, I wouldn't have been able to imagine that in my head Wink

I can see where that would be tough to fit in your regular sized shoes. Definitely can work around it Smile

Totally Gladiator chic! I heard that style is also in season. Very Happy

My neuro has asked if I need one, and I said no because I was somewhat in denial about how fast this is all going down. But now, it doesn't look so bad, I thought it was gonna take up my whole leg! lol
Might be worth a try for my wobbly leg.
