Hello all,been dxd about two years now and this is the most informative site i've found.I've been visiting since my dx but only just started posting,feel a bit intimidated really as everyone seems so clued up.I'm 43 and ride sports motorcycles which has become difficult due to my everyday ms problems.

This is a very good site and the best I have seen so far on the subject as well. I am sure you will find good information here to help with treatment options.

Hi Dave. Glad you decided to post. It's a great site, v informative and lots of support here too. I also felt v much like the new girl (& class half wit) when I first joined. Some people seemed to know so much and I realised just how little I knew. It doesn't stop me posting!

Welcome. As I'm sure you've gathered, we prioritize knowledge-sharing here because we're determined not to just carry along with MS in our lives, but to find ways to DESTROY it > Smile

Big Dave,

Welcome to the forum! I am a 40 year old male that used to ride sportbikes as well (I had a couple of 600R's back in the mid 80's). My wife's entire family (2 brothers and a sister) is all living out their mid lives by buying bikes. I would love to (and so would she!) as well, but as you say, this stuff gets in the way when you really need your balance.

All it takes to get clued up is to just spend a bit of time here. I'm glad you are here. Welcome.

Hi Lew,perception,vision and balance are my problems with two wheels and it's just that i can't or won't let biking drop.When riding on roads i'm not familiar with i have to take it steady.I can't judge corners or braking distances anymore and concentration has been known to wander to my recent cost.
I've just sold a Suzuki GSXR 1000 k4 which i had several misshaps on and was just too physically big and bought a new GSXR 750 k6 which is smaller and more managable.I've still got to be very careful when riding on my own,i'm not bad when following someone.
I've had a few bumps in my works van reciently too,i wonder why.

P.s,don't tell the DVLA or they'll have my driving licence off me.

Hi John,yes i informed them when i was dxd,they contacted my Neuro' and sent me a letter to say i was ok to drive.I've also contacted all my insurance co's.It hasn't affected my premiums but they've put it in my file.

I wonder if I can do something like that in the States. I was coming home from a friend of mine's wine shop the other day and passed a policeman about 15 mph over the speed limit. I only had maybe 1/2 a glass, but I thought if I get pulled over, my breath will smell like acohol (it was literally right out of the parking lot) and I can't pass a sobriety test stone, cold sober.

I would imagine over hear they would just yank my license. I'll have to ask my neuro., but does anyone know if you can get a card or something that doesn't allow them to field test you because of balance issues? I would love to know.

Hi Lew!

I don't know about a card or anything, but I thought that I heard that you can skip the sobriety test and go to the breathalizer, did I spell that right? Anyway, since I don't drink and I know that MS or not that I couldn't pass a sobriety test I'm worried sometimes when I'm driving past midnight about being pulled over.
