My husband Steve has just reached the peaking period following his 2nd flagyl pulse on the Wheldon Combined Antibiotic Protocol. This is so exciting for us right now, because his improvement is already demonstrable and will be a terrific surprise for our family members who will see him over the Christmas holiday. We want all of them to celebrate this journey with us.

Steve is also on antiviral treatment for CMV and EBV, chelation therapy for elevated heavy metals, a gluten-free/casein avoidance diet, and LDN. All these therapies are critical elements in his treatment, but no other part of his regimen demonstrates effectiveness as clearly as the antibiotic combination in the Wheldon protocol. His fatigue level is much improved, balance is better, vision is better, he's able to learn new things again, his complexion has gone from light bluish-grey to rosy, and the restless legs are gone. His short-term memory with respect to reading still stinks, but we are looking forward to improvement on that front as well. This will be remembered as the first Christmas of his recovery. Last day of Hanukkah today aswell, so may the flame carry on burning for a long while, not just for the miraculous eight days. Steve's way of improving seems to be mirroring mine more than anyone else's, except I never had vision problems, so if he continues to follow true to form, the short term memory should soon be in line for improvement. So I'll echo your blessings of joy, peace and recovery to all!

Brainteaser, In particular, it's the flagyl pulses. Every three weeks he takes flagyl. The first pulse was just one day with three 375mg capsules. The second pulse was a total of four capsules. The next will be two full days of three capsules per day. You build up gradually over time to five full days of three capsules per day. What happens with the pulses is that they are followed by several days of bug killing work in which you feel tired and symptoms are somewhat worse. At the end of those several days, though, you are improved over how you were before the pulse. This seems counter-intuitive, but so far for Steve and for others on the protocol, the very symptom that is most exacerbated during the post-pulse phase proves to be the thing that is improved the most when the post-pulse phase is over and the peaking period arrives. Pulses are not fun, but the payoff is definitely worth it. The peaking period is my term for that nice time of feeling good, enjoying the new improvements, and letting your body recuperate before doing another pulse. These pulses are continued until it's obvious that no more bug-killing work is going on. Then you switch to intermittent therapy like Sarah is on. The frequency of the antibiotics is gradually stretched out on intermittent therapy.
