Hello everybody,
another newbie... My (nick) name is Sandrine, I'm nearly 27. I got my MS diagnosis in decembre 2006, six weeks after my younger sister was diagnosed with MS. That situation was not very nice as you can imagine...
I studied biology and now I'm phd student. It's sort of weird I work in department in which most of my collegues deal with interferon beta research (most of them about role of interferon beta during infection). Next door some cute EAE mice live (>MS mouse model). My field is gene therapy-related, but just basic research, no clinical trials, and has nothing to do with MS
My MS: I had two "quite bad" relapses so far (10-11/06 and 04/07), but I recovered quite well. Since march 2007 I'm on Rebif44. Hope, it will work at least a bit. At the moment I feel "strange", somehow tired and dizzy. Thats all. Sometimes I have the impression that the people surrounding me have a bigger problem with my MS than me. I even lost some "friends" who got too much depressed by the soap-opera-like fate of my sister and me... I feel really sorry for them

Welcome, I think you will find this site very helpful, lots of good information. I also have a sister with MS. Not the best situation as you know, but at least I have someone who I can really talk to about things. We are both doing well right now which is great. Dave
I lived in Germany for 3 years and loved the country. We were a little north and east of Trier. My favorite spot in Germany was the Birkenstock outlet store in Bad Honnef.
Hope that you stay in good condition throughout your MS journey.

Welcome to the club, Sandrine, I'm sorry to hear about the diagnoses of you and your sister: being abandoned by some of your friends in your time of need must be very hard. There'll always be someone here willing to listen though, and I'm sure you or your colleagues will be able to explain some of the complexities of gene therapy to us! _________________ Dom
