I get a couple of e-mails a week from the 'Dummies' people pushing their latest books. Today's e-mail was a bit of a jaw dropper:

Multiple Sclerosis For Dummies

By Rosalind Kalb, Ph.D., Nancy Holland, RN, EdD, MSCN, Barbara Giesser, MD, David L. Lander

Now if only they could write MS Research for Dummies.

Geez, since nothing is conclusively known about MS, what could the writers teach us about MS other than current researcher assumptions?

Did they mention the prices??? I'll bet it's an expensive hunker.

I hadn't noticed that part. Yeah, I'd buy it!

Actually, the story of MS research "seems" so complicated that I can't imagine a "for dummies" even being possible. The closest anyone has come to putting it all in a nutshell is McAlpine's 4th edition, although I found it ureadibly prejudiced in places (I don't see eye to eye with the authors so I guess that is to be expected).

You REEK of money gwa, so I imagine $205.00 is small change for you! http://tinyurl.com/6hs24n

The reviews of the book indicate that it is full of excellent information. The price tag is a bit steep. Maybe Ian, the self proclaimed millionaire, will buy it and tell the rest of us about it.

I wonder who the "Dummies" are that are targeted for purchasing the book. Sounds like it is pretty technical for dummies.

Maybe Ian should save his millions to fund his trips to the beaches of southern Spain. I get the idea that being the Queen's body guard is a very stressful job.

Upon more thought it's obvious that thisisms is the ultimate MS research for dummies! Nothing that comes from the minds and hands of mainstream researchers is going to mention the things that we read about and consider here.

The "cure" isn't going to come from the mainstream. They've had their crack at it for the last 150 years which has gained us a lot of headway to.....nowhere.

Isn't it great how a company can make a comical title out of a serious problem and then make money off of it?
