Hi,

Just finished with ON but the eye I had it in now flickers a lot. Must be a nerve under eye-lid but I'm not sure.

Anyone else got this ( esp after ON?)

Thanks

enter the following:
facial twitch deficiency

in a google search and guess what i'm going to recommend ;D

you could try magnesium 250mg at bed time for a while. possibly add zinc 50mg if it's not helping in a day or two.

Never had ON to my knowledge, but twitching around the eye happens to me periodically, especially on my right side.

Hi Coastal,
When you say, " flickering", do you mean the eyelid is twitching or that the eyeball itself doesn't move as smoothly as it used to? People are always telling me that my lower right eyelid is twitching, but I can't feel it most of the time. I'm not particularly bothered by it but I'm going to start magnesium supplements soon. I used to work in an office overlooking a railway line, and as I watched the trains go by from right to left I noticed that they seemed to be jerking along and not moving at a steady speed – of course, it was my eyes that weren't moving properly. If your eyes appear to be moving when you think they are not, this is probably the nystagmus that RuSmolikova mentioned,

Hi T-Helix,
my upper right eyelid started twitching couple weeks after my diagnosis. I started taking vitamin B-komplex - Thiamini hydrochloridum (Vitaminum B1) 15 mg, Riboflavinum (Vitaminum B2) 15 mg, Pyridoxini hydrochloridum (Vitaminum B6) 10 mg, Calcii pantothenas (Vitaminum B5) 25 mg, Nicotinamidum (Vitaminum PP, syn. Vitaminum B3) 50 mg in 1 capsule.
But twitching continued more than seven month. I resigned and stopped B-komplex and twitching is gone since than. Rolling Eyes
Over medication of vitamin B-komplex?

"Flickering" of the eyelid is likely nothing more than a lid fasciculation, or twitch. Nystagmus would be much more problematic.

Don't worry. This is common even in those lucky enough not to have MS.

Hi There folks,

Yup - its getting worse too. Its actually a sort of "quivering" eye. When it started I thought it was a twitching eyelid but its more like an interference and I can see linkage with what RuSmolikova suggested - Nystagmus. It was bad today and I actually thought ON might be coming back. Also I think I'm getting that deep gnawing pain in the other eye that preceeds ON! Its just a month since it cleared up in the other eye!

I'm getting my MRI Scans mailed to me ( they're at the post office for collection) - I had apparently three spots - two in the upper tent area of the brain and one in my "balance apparatus."

I don't know - its weird weird weird. Something's goin on!

According to a very interesting web site by Mark London, "migraine headaches, mitral valve prolapse, and Raynaud's phenomenon, all problems commonly found in people with fibromyalgia, are also problems that have been associated with a magnesium deficiency." Magnesium deficiency is a common link between all of these symptoms.

Vertigo has been linked to nystagmus As noted above, vertigo is also a symptom of a magnesium deficiency.

Nystagmus is a common symptom of multiple sclerosis. A 1995 paper by researchers in Poland found that multiple sclerosis patients had a "statistically significant decrease" of erythrocyte magnesium levels.

RuSmolikova, if you ever get another issue with your eye*lid* twitching, not eye*ball*, you could try taking magnesium 250mg along with your b-complex at bedtime.

i don't think you could possibly over-medicate on a b-complex with components at levels like 15mg, 10mg, etc... even after 6 months, or 6 years. B6 is supposed to be the only one you can get too much of and you have to take something like 100-150mg per day for months on end. the only time i had a problem with B9 (even though you're not supposed to have trouble with that one) was when i took 1000mcg per day. it was a different brand of b-complex than i was used to.

i have really benefited from b-complex but at levels like 100mg of each component. the best was when i took something approximating a b-100mg complex (more complicated than that but the general idea) four times per day for three days.

i have been really lax with b-complex over the last couple of years but this week i am doing another big push and am taking 4x b-100 complex per day, plus a few other things.

although there isn't much said about getting too much B9, i did manage it once, but only when i took 1000mcg in my complex by accident, when i got a new bottle, unfamiliar brand.

Thanks, Jimmylegs!
As far as I remember (damned sclerosis! Evil or Very Mad ) I used not only B-komplex but Magnesii lactas dihydricus 0,5 g (twice a day) in the same time. I stopped B-komplex and eye-lid twitching was over within few days (maximum one week). In that time I still continued magnesium and stopped it few weeks or month later (´cause I didn´t notice any effect).

hi there Smile okay that makes a lot of sense.

i would imagine having magnesium in the mix with your b-complex would be very effective at stopping the eyelid twitch in a week or less. (although i'm not familiar with 'magnesii lactas dihydricus' - what's the chemical formula for that?)

for sure, once the twitch is gone, there would be no subjectively obvious benefits to continuing with magnesium supplements.

but if it ever comes back, i hope you'll use the same b-complex and magnesium combo again to get rid of it! Smile
