Hi. i've recently been on holiday and whilst there, i was having difficulty swallowing. I felt as though something was stuck and it seems to be continuing, but not as bad at the moment.
Whilst i was resting at home, i had a funny sensation which is why i thought i'd check it out. When looking at some symptoms of MS, i had a few linked with my eyes where quite a few years ago, i only saw half of things which was really weird. I just put it down to it being the beginnings of a migraine, though i never got the headache. Also 4 years ago, i went away and whilst looking round a shop, my eyes went funny and i could hardly see. This i put down to maybe having drink which i wasn't used to, though i only drank 2-3 glasses of wine at night. Hadn't drunk any alcohol that day by the way.
Something else i have noticed is that my eyes sometimes flicker from side to side when reading.
For the past couple of months i have had quite bad heal pain especially after resting. Sometimes when i get up, i can be like an old woman. Keep meaning to try some insoles things. That i guess could just be something simple.
Also, when i've had a few occasions where i have been unable to hold myself which i have kept mostly to myself apart from one occasion where i had no choice but to say something to my other half which happened when i was around 32.
Do you think that this could just be with being tired or something more?
I've never mentioned any of these to the docs as i usually put it down to something else, though i am considering mentioning a few things, but i think they may think i'm being paranoid if i mention a few symptoms and i'm due to have IVF shortly and i'm afraid that they may turn round and say they won't let me go ahead.

Your advice would be great

Thanks

Hi Blonde...

Welcome. I'm a brunette, and I don't have MS, but I've had all of your symptoms Smile I'm going to suggest that you don't worry, don't self-diagnose on the internet and go get a thorough physical right away! Especially if you're trying to get pregnant. Tell the docs everything.

Your vision stuff sounds like an optic migraine. The heel pain could be plantar facsciitis, or a pulled heel muscle from wearing flip flops. Difficulty swallowing (dysphragia) can be caused by gastric reflux. Had 'em all and I'm still kicking.

We're not drs. here, just folks who have MS or care for someone who does. Get a physical and be well!

i haven't had that sort of eye issue, but it sounds like a possible thiamine deficiency. the vision problems... and that flickering in particular sounds like Nystagmus. which can be related to many different issues, but if you have a really limited diet or some GI complications, thiamine could be a factor. the pain you've experienced could tie into that idea also. seems significant to me also that it got worse after you had a drink, because alcohol drains thiamine too.

i know it's only wikipedia, but read these it's a start
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physiologic_nystagmus (a little video)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pathologic_nystagmus
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beriberi
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wernicke%27s_encephalopathy

i've had the throat problem. there were three parts to mine. occassionally, my tongue would get frozen half-swallow and i'd be sitting there with a blocked airway trying to finish the swallowing motion (dysphagia). another issue was feeling like i had a tennis ball stuck in my throat that i had to swallow around (Globus pharyngis, apparently). i had significant improvement from taking magnesium. but i still have a bit of the third problem, which is feeling like my spit is going down the wrong way. i clear my throat too often. the tennis ball and the stuck tongue are gone though. whew!

i think it's very important to mention all of this to your doctor, first to find out what it is, and second because if you have any nutrition issues or general health issues, it will certainly affect the health of a developing fetus. i would hope the doctors would be appreciative that you were doing all you could to ensure that your baby has the healthiest possible mom to grow in!

i'm going to go scout for a link or two that i posted recently somewhere on here, might also be useful for you to read. take care Smile

Thank you loads for your replys. To know that there's prob some explanation for my symptoms makes me very relieved. I will mention something to the docs, just hope they don't delay my IVF treatment?
Will check out those links and i'll stay clear of alcohol for now. Just took a month off trying as needed to chill out.

Thanks again
