Hi there,

I considered this treatment but heard very mixed reviews from a UK magazine called MSRC. I think it could easily be a scam. Confused

With 100% testimonial as their only 'evidence' I find it highly unlikely this is anything but a scam.

While I have personal suspicions regarding the efficacy of the esperanza peptide, research on the effects of the different components of various venoms is a legitimate field of research. A while back, the show Nature on PBS ran an episode titled The Venom Cure that discussed some of the current research in this area.

In addition, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center is using a component of scorpion toxin, chlorotoxin, as a probe for cancer cells.

Agree NHE, snake (and other) venoms are a rich source of potentially new and interesting treatments, especially in the nervous system (after all one of the primary functions of snake venom is to stop prey from escaping so they usually act on muscles and/or nervous system).

jimmylegs, you really got me going with the link to an actual study! I was really keen to read it and then saw the abstract!
Quote:
Oral modified cobratoxin was assessed in a double-blind, randomized, crossover study of eight patients. Treatment was well tolerated. There were no significant improvements with therapy. The authors do not confirm previous anecdotal reports of dramatic improvement with modified cobratoxin.

A randomised study of a massive sample of 8 patients (i.e. presumably 4 were given the drug and 4 the placebo, and these were then later 'crossed over' to the other treatment). Not exactly overwhelming evidence is it? Even if they had found anything interesting. Laughing

Personally I'd be shocked if this Esperanza peptide was anything BUT a scam.

Hey ho. The search continues.
