Dear tmc...
I'm sure your motivation is a good one, however, I feel it's important to speak up:
"A Chinese company, Beike Biotech, has been offering the treatment to foreign patients since 2005. It treats one to two Canadian patients every month and claims 90% of MS patients see some kind of measurable improvement.
The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada is urging caution. A medical memo recently posted on its website warns patients that Chinese researchers have not proven these therapies or published any results in a leading medical journal.
Even worse, some patients have returned from China with dangerous infections, such as meningitis.
"Any procedure that introduces foreign cells into the body has all kinds of risks associated with it," says Dr. Sam Weiss, a leading stem cell researcher at the University of Calgary."
These therapies are not successful for MS patients, and could be dangerous, unless the underlying immune system disfunction is addressed.
respectfully,
