Hi all
had a nasty relapse about 7 weeks ago. Severe fatigue for 3 weeks, and a huge increase in neurological pain - you know the crawling, itching, pricking, nagging, gnawing horrible pain. It was all down my right side - just my right side - and I had twitching too so I wasn't sleeping.

The neurology clinic's nurse sent me a script for very low dose Amitriptyline (I think it's called Elavil in some parts of the world). It worked an absolute treat. All the pain and twitching went after about 3 days on it. It was just heaven to get a break from that awful pain. I was more dopey in the mornings and a bit of constipation but a small price to pay.

Now the pain and twitching is starting to creep back again even though I haven't stopped or changed the dose (25mg).

Has anyone else had this experience? Does Amitriptyline wear off? Do you become immune to each dose over time?

I have never tried Amitriptyline or know anything about it, but I do have pins and needles / prickly feeling in my feet. i notice when i take Provigil (100mg x 2) by the end of the day the pins and needles seem slightly less prominent, and this continues onto the next day regardless if i take another dose. This is anecdotal, but i thought i might share.

I also take a small dose of Amytriptiline along with Lyrica. Together they seem to work for my neuropathic pain. This isn't always the case because there are days when nothing seems to work.

Thanks Cure, that's interesting about Provigil. I have never tried it - I did try Symmetral in the past though, it seems to work on fatigue too.

Terry perhaps it was just one of those days....I had a few days when all the pain came back but now it's back to "normal" levels again. I am hoping it will stay as it is now.
