I was trying to organize some of my "miscellaneous" information and came across a November 04 BBC article:[url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4021759.stm]
Antipsychotics treat brain virus[/url], in this case, PML. I think the information is relevant for people who participated in the Tysabri+Avonex trial who may feel they are still at risk for PML. The article says in part:

A US study in Science found the antipsychotic drug clozapine appeared to be most effective at preventing the infection without side-effects.....

PML is caused by a virus which destroys glial cells that produce the fatty sheath that covers nerve cells.....

The team say their research shows that the virus can be stopped in its tracks using clozapine and comparable serotonin receptor blocking drugs....

the drugs may prove to be an effective, ready-made therapy for PML prevention or treatment.


Now, if they can find something that stops MS in its tracks, we'd all feel a bit better I think. Take care everyone.
