I suppose this is to be expected for a company without a retail product undergoing an expensive R & D process with its lead candidate.
Opexa Therapeutics 4Q Loss Widens
Opexa Therapeutics' 4th-Quarter Loss Widens on Higher Research and Development Costs
March 18, 2008: 09:22 AM EST
NEW YORK (Associated Press) - Biotechnology company Opexa Therapeutics Inc. said Tuesday its 2007 loss widened on higher research and development expenses.
The company lost $14.7 million, or $2.19 per share, compared with a loss of $12.6 million or $2.35 per share. The company had no revenue in 2007 or 2006. Opexa had about 1.3 million additional shares in 2007.
Opexa did not report fourth-quarter results.
Research and development expenses rose 70 percent to about $13.1 million, primarily due to midstage studies of the company's experimental multiple sclerosis treatment Tovaxin.

Tim,
Do you have any comments on the business side of Opexa that will help to calm our fears about whether or not Opexa is going to have enough money to complete the IIb, extension and phase III trials?
Sorry about the link, probably won't work. Try going to http://www.pharmafrontierscorp.com/ and then look at the upper left corner under news. I think Opexa is going to make a pitch to Cambria Capital Investors.

I wish I knew more about stocks and finances.
I might be relying only on faith, but in this regard of the clinical trial, I'm not going to worry until someone from Opexa or someone from the Michigan trial staff tells us to worry about Opexa's financial condition.

Hi Lyon,
Tim provided some info on the "going concern" statement last November in this thread. Opexa's recent round of fund raising should carry them through the end of this year. Hopefully, the results of the current phase IIB study will get more investors on line so that they can successfully complete a phase III.

Thanks for looking that up NHE. I knew we had talked about it but I couldn't find the posting.
It doesn't matter to me if at the end of the trial process some huge pharma owns Opexa but I find it unfathomable and unconscionable that something as hopeful as Tovaxin could die during the trial process due to lack of investor interest?
Sure, at this point Tovaxin can only can be made for 50% of those with MS, but 50% of an unimaginable fortune is still a darned near unimaginable fortune.

Seems to me that nothing matters except the long anticipated IIB study data. When that information is released the well will either dry up or there will be a financial flood of epic proportions. OK, maybe somewhere in between. Obviously $'s will be directly related to effectiveness.
Hoping for good results,
Lars

That's true! I'm with you in that I'm not interested in the "drying up" or "somewhere in between".
The results better be stellar or else Johns Hopkins better prepare the disconbobulating transmogrifyer for a rush in business!

WOW! Something is very, very weird about that.
How well did you get to know the coordinator? Our people, I'm confident I know well enough to judge is they were lying.....in addition to the fact that I don't think someone could pay them to lie.
What's really strange is that there is no reason to think that Tovaxin wouldn't work on progressive MS anyway.
