Re: My CtrlAltDel - Status

There are tons of articles on it in major journals. I have spoken to 3 people who had less than stellar results. Sella had a bad infection during treatment in Britain, Lisa from Lisa's hope had to go back for some more chemo after a few years(and is now stable again), and asher failed to have any re...

Re: My CtrlAltDel - Status

A few friends of mine started a 501c3. I'm not sure where you live, but in he us, it is much easier for large organizations to give if it is tax deductible. We have sponsored a battle of the bands, silent auction, and now a golf tournament. All of the money runs to the tax deductible organization an...

Re: My CtrlAltDel - Status

I'm not a cyclist, and don't care to be :). But I do think very highly of all of you guys and you are the ones who have led me to this juncture. If I can raise the money, I will be heading to Chicago. They are some great folks and have made me trust them.

Re: My CtrlAltDel - Status

HUD,
How long had you been diagnosed prior to the initial HSCT? Did you have any active lesions whatsoever? Since you are PP, I would assume you did not, but I would like to know. Can you tell if the BMT has allieviated any of your symptoms?

Thanks

Re: My CtrlAltDel - Status

A big part if the theory behind hsct as a treatment is to stop the underlying inflammatory disease activity to ward off the next two stages of the disease. Along with having an immune naive system to replace the old malfuntioning immune system.

Re: My CtrlAltDel - Status

Please keep us posted. I guess what dr Burt put in his last paper about inflammation being the key is really the key to this crazy disease.

Re: My CtrlAltDel - Status

Asher,

I know I should know this, but were you rr pp or sp at the time of your treatment? I am sill in rr, but disability is slowly accumulating. I went to see dr Burt and have been fundraising ever since. I is great to have your perspective on this.

Re: My CtrlAltDel - Status

Glad to see you are doing better. I finally had to "come out" around work and to the community I am in in order to try to raise money for the HSCT treatment. I have gotten a bunch of patronization, but a fair amount of understanding and gnuine caring. I have been surprised that we have rai...

Re: Dr Burt and waiting forever

Good call. I beleive that it should be reserved for those that qualify as "agressive" in their progression. I know that I have had multiple relapses and multiple new spinal lesions i the last year, and according to the study, that turns dont the vast majority of people who apply, I am a go...

Re: Dr Burt and waiting forever

Good points gogo. I read a recent medical article that said the some doctors have identified a cancer related stem cell that is very twilight and can hide in the body for years or be behind some latent malignancies. It may even be responsible for cancers that don't respond to chemo in the body like ...

Re: Hsct and fundraising.

So our first fundraiser was Friday night! And I would call it a qualified success. We had 3 bands donate their time from 5 till midnight, got the city to donate a building, got 15 thousand dollars in items donated, and held a battle of the bands/ silent auction/ raffle, and raised in the neighborhoo...

Re: Dr Burt and waiting forever

There's even more to it than what George says, because some drug companies can put up huge bond and have their drugs fast tracked through the FDA. Crony capitalism at its worst. I am a huge free market guy, but when govt stacks the deck for their friends, it is really depressing.
