Re: Relapse triggered by massage
Acupunction has for me triggered an exacerbation of ms as well, by the way. What is in common for these triggers (massage, acupuncture, sex), however is that every time there was an underlying active inflammation already present (=mild emerging symptoms) before the trigger. The "trigger" t...

Re: Relapse triggered by massage
Yes! I'm glad you brought this topic up. My worst ever relapse so far was triggered, or worsened, by massage of the neck. This was several years ago. I had actually already started relapsing already, I had vertigo feelings for several days. But kept on working and tried to carry on normal activities...

Re: Frustrated with my symptoms and doctor.
You should definitely ask for a copy of your MRI report plus a copy of the pictures. Your symptoms could well be ms. Maybe the neurologist wants to rule out some other things first. The drooping eyelind (ptosis) is a symptom which I think might present in myasthenia gravis and some other neurologica...

Re: Leg ms, brainstem ms, cognitive ms, what type is yours?
MRI signal hyperintensity at C3 implies that at least when those pictures were taken, the problem was really up in the spinal cord (in the cervical cord). That is not good as it might affect all four limbs. everything below that level. But I'm not a doctor and perhaps that specific lesion has faded ...

Re: What kind of ms do you have
Hi, perhaps you should post this as an own issue on the list to create a separate thread for your husband. I wish you all the best. When will you receive the MRi results? Ok, so your husband has a dg of PPMS. The deterioration of walking is in line with that diagnosis. Physiotherapy in general would...

Re: What kind of ms do you have
Forgot to remark: I have labelled my ms brainstem ms . Don't know how accurate this is. But that's how I would see it anyway. One ms girl I know has mswith predominantly walking problems and leg spasticity. I'd call this the textbook ms. Or leg ms . Another woman has mainly cognitive issues such as ...

Leg ms, brainstem ms, cognitive ms, what type is yours?
Ms is a highly variable disease. In other words, in different people ms presents itself in very differing ways. Two people with ms may not have much in common as regards symptoms, degree of disability, pace of progression, severity of the attacks and so on. How would you describe your version of ms?...

Re: Anybody tried Mestinon for muscle weakness
I use Mestinon for constipation. Believe it or not, this is what my neurologist prescribed me for this problem! It does have a positive effect on that actually. But my ms has not improved as such.

Re: Gilenya and...Cancer??
I have heard of a link between Gilenya and skin cancer, too. As for myself, neuros are unsure whether Gilenya could be an option or not. This is because I am a cancer survivor. Not skin cancer though. Gilenya is an immunosuppressant, like many other drugs used to treat ms. Suppressing the immune sys...

Hi
I have been taking Terbinafine tablets for two weeks now. This is due to fungus in the foot and a bit on the toe nails, too. My doctor told me to take it for one month or so and then we'll see. Terbinafine seems to have a negative effect on my ms symptoms. For the last week I have felt really fatigu...

Neuroprotective drugs. Any in use or in the pipeline?
Hello, just asking. Do you know what is the situation regarding meds intended for neuroprotection? Are there any drugs of this kind on the market yet, for ms or for other neurological illnesses? Or are there drug trials going on or planned?

Wallerian degeneration in the brain
Hi all. I would like to ask if there is anyone whose MRIs have shown a degree of Wallerian degeneration process in the brain? I have an area of this kind somewhere around the thalamus region. According to the radiologists' reports this area has been there for several years at I haven't received an e...
