Re: When do I need to see a neurologist?

Hi Becky - There are Standard MRI protocols for MS; one for the brain and another for the cervical spine. http://www.ajnr.org/content/27/2/455/T1.expansion.html This is the brain protocol. http://www.ajnr.org/content/27/2/455/T2.expansion.html This is the c-spine protocol. Re: Please someone help me with this question

I can only provide my own progression. My MS started when I was around 31. It was not diagnosed until I was 51, last October. My official dx is SPMS. I am up and around without restriction. If you saw me walking around you would never know I have MS. I plan to keep it that way!

Re: MS'ers who have had hip replacement surgery?

I'm a 52 year old male. I was dx with SPMS this past October. 3 years ago I was unaware of my MS, but did have my left hip replaced. My problem was bone on bone osteoarthritis. In my case it was the bone conserving hip resurfacing procedure. There were no complications related to my MS. Even though ...

Solu-Medrol is the IV form of methlyprednisolone, a synthetic corticosteroid. It is not a DMD. It is an anti-inflammatory used to reduce inflammation associated with acute flare ups/exacerbations/relapses. If MS has moved beyond the relapsing/remitting stage Solu-Medrol will have less and less benef...

It seems they can be a bit of a double edged sword, but they helped me far more than they hurt :)

The only real side effect I had from the steroids was some exaggerated heat response and a couple of hot flashes. My main symptoms were serious leg weakness, double vision and overall fatigue.

First Solu-Medrol Adventure

Last evening I got my first of 5 daily IV Solu-Medrol infusions, 1g in 100ml. The results have been about a 50% improvement across the board. My double vision has lessened. I don't look quite so drunk when I walk down the street. And the Cog Fog seems to have lifted a bit. I have had very minimal si...

95% Sure

Hi - I'm new here and new to MS, well at least I thought I was I'm a 51 YO guy in NYC. Based on MRI's of my brain and spine, and her examination of me, my neuro is 95% sure I have MS. Both my head and back MRI's show both old and new lesions. Her exam confirmed, among other things, pretty pronounced...
