Re: Steriods side effects

He's doing well. Lifting his legs much better and has even taken 3 steps without holding on to anything. It's amazing and now we are wondering why we didn't do this sooner. On the down side he's spending a lot of time in the bathroom and feels extremely 'washed out', plus getting up all through the ...

Re: Steriods side effects

My husband has just had 3 days worth of IV steriods. We don't actually have a diagnosis for him - after 9 months of investigations - but his symptoms do resemble MS. He's also an insulin dependent diabetic which is why the doctors were reluctant to use the steriods. It's having a good effect already...

Re: Oral prednisolone vs IV.

Hi, his treatment is being coordinated with his neurologist and his endocrinologist. He had the IV pred. Wed, Thurs and Friday last week and it is now Sunday. So far it's looking good - he can lift his legs higher holding on to the walking frame and has managed to lift his legs without using his han...

Re: Oral prednisolone vs IV.

My husband is having his first pulsing steriods (prednisone) next week by IV. He is still undiagnosed but whatever he has is similar to MS. The problem is that he's an insulin dependent diabetic and I believe the steriods are going to play havoc with his sugar levels. Are there any diabetic MS patie...

Re: Diagnosis Mystery

Many thanks want2bike for those links. I spent hours going through them and other links. It really does make you want to get rid of all your amalgam fillings. You have obviously had personal experience with this. My husband's neurologist rang last night and he's booked in for pulsing steriods next w...

Re: Diagnosis Mystery

Thanks for the links want2bike and euphoniaa. The doctors have considered mercury poisoning and he is currently having a full heavy metal blood screen, amongst other tests. He does have a lot of amalgum fillings and we have considered having them removed. He is borderline low on copper which can cau...

Re: Calling all caregivers and family!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, I'm caring for my husband, who probably doesn't have MS but has something similar. We are a retired couple and my husband's illness has been relatively sudden and progressive so doctors have thought he might have Primary Progressive MS, though it's unlikely. Whatever, he is using a walker around...

Diagnosis Mystery

Hi, this is my first time posting on this forum. My husband has been undergoing investigations since January this year for what they originally thought was diabetic polyneuropathy but now they know it isn't. Since January he has gradually lost the use of his legs. He is unable to walk except very sl...
