Is Avonex an immunosupressant?

What wondering if anyone knew whether or not Avonex is an immunosupressant. I just had a colonoscopy done and after the surgery my doctor told me to what for fever because I was on an immunosupressant. I told him I didn't think Avonex was an immunosupressant but I'm not sure. Does anyone know?

I know that Xanax does help me when I experience the dizziness. Right now I take one .25 mg. in the morning and then by the afternoon I usually end up taking a half of a .25 mg. My neuro said that helps because it tends to "relax" the nerves.

Does anyone experience dizziness?

I was diagnosed with MS about 5 years ago. I am currently on Avonex and take Low Dose Naltrexone. My biggest sympton of my MS is a feeling of dizziness. Does anyone else experience dizziness and what treatments do you use to help combat that?

Hello All. I just wanted to share my experiences with Avonex. I had my first attached on January 2, 2003 and have been taking Avonex since April 15th of that same year - almost 4 years. I have not had a relapse since, no new lesions on my MR and the only minor symptoms I experience from my MS are di...

I was diagnosed with MS after a bout with ON and went on Avonex almost immediately (within 2 months after ON). I have been on Avonex over 3 years now and (knock wood) I have not had any relapses. I self inject and take my shots usually on Sunday afternoon. I am very happy to say that other than some...

Hello jimmylegs. I was diagnosed 2 years ago. My first MRI showed 15 lesions. Last year's MRI showed to new lesions but I still had the 15 old ones. This year's MRI showed less than 5 lesions so they can heal.

My neuro actually chose Avonex for me. He thought that due to my lifestyle and the fact that I was very early into the disease Avonex would be best. I have been taking Avonex for almost 2 years now. It took about 6=7 months for me to get over the side effects - but for me, even the side effects were...

Dear Mom to drama Queen: Sorry to hear about your daughter and husband. Here's my sorry: I was diagnosed about 1.5 years ago with MS after a bout of Optic Neuritis. Started Avonex in March of 2004 just like your daughter (with 1/4 dose, 1/2 dose, etc.) In the beginning, I seemed to have horrible fat...

Wintergirl - I totally agree with your positive thoughts about the drug. I also view Avonex as something good and I've even got myself believing that I always feel better after my injection. I think I lot of this has to do with mind over matter.

I have been on Avonex for 1.5 years and I'm very happy to say that generally I have no side effects from the Avonex. I just took my injection last night and woke up this moning fine. From the start, my side effects have been manageable. At their worst, I would wake up in the middle of the night with...

Water Retention

I have been taking Avonex for about 1.5 years and Prozac for about 6 months. I've noticed, and other people have told me, that I look like I am retaining water - especially in my face. My sister, who is a nurse, told me I have a "moon-face". Does anyone else have this or does anyone take a...

I've been on Avonex about 1.5 years. I am one of the luckier ones who actually followed Biogen. I had side effects for about 6-months and then rarely. There are times when I will wake up with a headache that could last most of the next day but I found that taking Advil 2 hours before my injection an...
