Can anybody tell me what infratentorial lesions are? None were detected on my mri scan but there were several small areas of change on the white matter (I presume the areas of change are old lesions?)

I didn't even think to decline the lumbar puncture to be honest! I saw an emergency neurologist as my doc wanted to admit me for steroids (I rerfused coz I didn't want to leave my kids and am b/feeding my youngest) and he said I 'had' to have an mri plus lumbar...I wish it had ocurred to me to refus...

Why unnecessary, just out of interest? Had you had years of symptom's?

Nothing major. We had a car crash a couple of months before the onset on the optic neuritis but I only jolted my neck/head slightly

Have you been taking any med's at all for your MS? I'm still waiting for my diagnosis following abnormal mri/lumbar puncture and my fears about the med's are exactly the same as yours e.g. weight gain & not being able to breastfeed. Funnily enough, my son's 8 months old as well! I'll be interest...

My neurologist told me the lumbar puncture is to detect whether any oligiclonal bands are present in the spinal fluid as that's a sign of a problem with the immune system (obviously the doctor would describe it in a more sophisticated way!) Oh had you had years of symptoms then? Wish I could have skipped the lumbar too! It was pretty painless but the after effects were horrific. I had a deathly headache but it also triggered other weird stuff such as a buzzing ear, noise distortion & tremors and I could barely walk as felt so wobbl...

You know, the spine thing would make a lot of sense. I started getting sciatica 5 yrs ago with my eldest child & I've had terrible trouble with my back & neck since my youngest was born earlier this year. Might look into this more.

Thank you for your reply. Copaxone would be my first choice if I get to choose a dmd because I've read that it has less of the flu-like symptom's. Do all the drugs cause weightgain? It's a minor worry compared to the damage caused by ms but even so, I'd rather not gain weight! I feel better for hear...

Hi, thanks for replying. I've read a fair bit about diet and also vitamin d. Which sort of diet do you follow? I've been vegetarian since age 11 (I'm 33 now!) and I don't eat dairy either. Would this help? What does the chiropractics involve exactly? Oh and one last question, why do think the shots ...
