Re: Cheap Provigil alternative?

I've tried Modafinil, Vyvanse, Dexedrine, Adderall, and Ritalin and for the most part, the only thing I got from these drugs was a feeling of being on edge and jittery. I have been taking ALCAR (Acetyl-L-Carnitine) with moderate success. I feel like it gets me closer to normal than any of the other ...

Re: Change from Gilenya to Ocrevus

Hello all, My doctor called me recently to inform me that my MRI results were piss poor (not her words - mine); clinically speaking, I'm doing fairly well (I pass the "no one can tell I have MS test"). I've been on Gilenya for about five years, and notwithstanding certain sensory issues, p...

Re: 11 years waiting for a diagnosis. I knew this day would

Hey Leven, I think - and I'm not a neurologist - that the collection of test results pointing to demyelination on your MRI, dissemination in time (two bouts of optic neuritis), and the fact that you presented with optic neuritis strongly implicates MS (as you have surmised yourself); that doesn't re...

Re: Journey to a Diagnosis... Please Read...

Did an overnight sleep study at home and it came back normal. Just like everything always does with me. I'm in misery and want answers. It's hard waking up everyday and pretending to be okay b/c you 'look' fine and no one believes you . Can't remember the last time I felt healthy. Hey Lambie, Welco...

Re: So here's my story. This just sucks!

I can't say definitively, but I don't think so. At this point, you don't know for a fact that you have MS. I would think that a firm diagnosis by your doctor is required before that can be established(this is the assumption I'm making). So, how would you be committing fraud(e.g. an illegal act)? You...

Re: So here's my story. This just sucks!

Hey Luckyme, Your post made me think back to my own situation a few years ago. I knew that the diagnosis is going to be MS a few months before I went in to see my neurologist after doing an MRI; I knew because quite a few people have MS in my family and it wasn't hard to get to that conclusion when ...

Re: Drugs or no drugs? It's more difficult than I thought.

Hey Luckme, The issue your describing is faced by most, if not all MS patients. All of the points you made are essentially underpinned by uncertainty; either about how the drug works, whether it will work for you, whether another drug may be a better option or to take a drug at all - more importantl...

A study published by researchers from Bristol University claims to show the immune system can be taught to stop treating harmless everyday proteins as if they were dangerous invasive diseases... Re: Pregnant with MS,scared

Hi Sadie, As a man, I obviously can't speak to the subjective experience of pregnancy, regardless of it being in the context of MS or not (I feel like I'm stating the super obvious here, but I couldn't think of a joke to mask the redundancy :D). However, in general, during pregnancy, the risk of a r...

Re: Rather confused and concerned

Hi Moni, You don't need to thank me, especially since I did not tell you any more than you already knew. With regards to doing research before speaking to the doctor my experience, though probably atypical, is one that makes me want to tell you to stay away from researching until you see your doctor...

I don't have any personal experience with HBOT, but based on a meta-analysis that I recently read, unfortunately it is not beneficial.

Re: Rather confused and concerned

Hi Moni, The problem with diagnosing MS is that any and all of those symptoms could be due the disease, or not; some of the symptoms you have mentioned are more classic presentations of MS. I would certainly get tested, especially if there is history of MS in your family. Meanwhile, as hard as it ma...

Re: Newly diagnosed and feeling lost

It is definitely normal to feel alone and lost; especially when first diagnosed. For me, it felt easier to deal with as time went on and I made my peace with the fact that I do have MS. I was grieving prematurely for what seemed like a loss of my self-worth and manhood more than anything else. Event...

Re: I was dx'd w/ms a cuple of months ago

Hi Maledicte Being depressed and lost is quite natural given that it has only been two months since your diagnosis. The one thing that can be said about this disease at this point is that it is unpredictable which definitely contributes to that feeling of being lost and not knowing what to do. You'r...

Re: Scared, worried, frantic, desperate to talk to someone!

Hi and welcome to the board. As is obvious from my post count, I am too a new member to this board; though I have read through most of the threads in order to see what other people do for MS. My reason for eventually registering was your post. You may have already read through a lot of literature av...
