Biogen has no plans to let anybody know
I'm sure Harry will not be surprised by this and it has me concerned what else they are not passing on. http://www.medindia.net/news/Multiple-Sclerosis-Drug-May-Cause-Skin-Cancer-32749-2.htm Shannon Altimari, a spokesperson for Biogen Idec Inc., which in partnership with Elan Corp. markets Tysabri, ...

Batpere, My neuro does however have several of her other MS patients on it for their MS and she said they responded well to it. If your neuro is being closed-mouth about it, you should do some reading on the subject of low-dose Metho. I read in several publications (Arthritis foundation etc) that t...

Re: Increasing disease activity after treatment stops
I was thinking about going to a Biogen sponsored Tysabri talk in my area next month. I will raise the question of the rebound effect just to see what their response is . NHE Their response somewhere (don't remember where) was that it was a small number of people in the study and Biogen had no plans...

Re: Does Tysabri infusion hurt?
"A person getting an intravenous infusion will probably feel a sharp pain or some discomfort when the needle penetrates the skin and vein, but then the discomfort should subside as the infusion proceeds. There may also be discomfort when the infusion needle is removed and the site may or may n...

pilates
The local chapter of the MS society here has started a free weekly pilates class and it is wonderful. Everyone in the class has MS and so not everyone can do the full version of each exercise, but everyone does what they can. I enjoy it so much more than yoga, where leg spasticity poses frequent pro...

I believe there are a couple of places offering the Tysabri antibodies test, including Athena Diagnostics. ... They also have a patient advocates program where the patient only is responsible for 20% of the cost of the test (around $115) regardless of whether or not the insurance company pays for t...

Gary is now taking Cellcept to knock his immune system down. He is also taking a 10mg shot of decadron twice monthly until the cellcept kicks in. According to research, with Devic's, they must put you into remission and it can only be done, for now, with chemo type drugs. He seems to feel better, b...

I'm still amazed though, at the number of people still going on Avonex when there is clear data from multiple trials showing that Rebif and Betaseron are superior. Finally, the flu symptoms are less, notably with Rebif. I work with MS patients and people on Avonex who switch to Rebif feel so much b...

edss
I'm wondering whether I should ask for a more thorough exam, no one has ever suggested an EDSS level for me, I assumed I wasn't even on the scale. Are you sure, err, that there wasn't an effort to find a higher EDSS than might otherwise have been noted? (I'm assuming neuros were part of clinic sele...

Don't be afraid to look at prescriptions to help with that. Uroxatral has made that symptom disappear for me.Loobie wrote: Everyone I work with knows I pee all the time, but other than that, I've been able to make it through work with really no symptoms encroaching into my performance.

Tysabri reworked!!!
Wow - read this: http://www.ketv.com/health/9757195/detail.html Tysabri's been REWORKED now so that there is only a 1 in 1000 chance of getting a serious viral infection of the brain. Ho ho ho. The worthlessness of this statistic that is endlessly repeated makes it almost laughable. Only here on thi...

The funny thing about all of this is if your are covered and DON'T take anything for your MS, your chances of eating at the insurance co. profits yearly are quite good. MS, so I have been told, is generally broken up in thirds, although the CRABs may have changed this slightly. 1/3 will go on with ...

consumer-driven health plan - Lumenos
Anybody with MS covered by Lumenos consumer-driven health care insurance? Do the cost of the CRAB drugs eat up the up-front employer contribution? How do other consumer-driven health care plans handle things?
