Re: Flow & anatomical abnormalities in MS vs Controls using
Question: Does this study demonstrate that ALL MS patients present slow blood perfusion compared to controls regardless of whether they have stenosis or not? Thanks Perfusion is a different metric which we did not measure, but that has already been shown to be lower in MS compared to normals, most ...

Re: Where's the excitement?
The existence of a connection between MS and venous haemodynamics has been known for more than a century The paper in question is hardly earth-shattering, it just moves the debate on a tiny bit. Perhaps you should also try reading Lee et al, (2010), where you will find this stetement: "If ther...

Re: Where's the excitement?
Efforts to hype one particular paper just because it supports one particular viewpoint do not impress me. The paper that will be of interest to me is the one that finally settles the argument about whether MS is caused by CCSVI, or whether CCSVI is a symptom of MS. Geoff I certainly would never hyp...

Re: Where's the excitement?
I thank you for the interest in the work, and I will consider such criticsm in the next work that I do. But it is not the most critical finding that I was trying to convey. No raw data or processed data lies in the abstract, so I am not sure what you mean by that.

also concerns about the accuracy of MRI in measuring flow, but the results are so provocative. I assure you it is leaps and bounds more consistent than ultrasound. Generally in MR there is up to 10% error per vessel, depending on which one it is, but that error reduces when you total values. ie tot...

Re: Where's the excitement?
So we have two MS groups and two Healthy Control groups. Now ask: Why, with a 2x2 contingency table, there was no Chi-square test reported? It's in the paper, "More than half the MS group 72/138 (52%) classified as ST compared to 11/48 (23%) HC participants (χ2 = 12.01; P < .001)." Did yo...

I will forward to her, I spoke with her at Sherbrooke about this when it was only a talk at the time. Can anybody get this link http://www.thisisms.com/forum/chronic-c ... 25432.html to Anne Kingston? I think she might want to know.

"Has there been any cooperative response from Rodger or Traboulsee or interest in reanalyzing their data with this method?"
Not to my knowledge, but the gauntlet has been thrown!

Re: Flow & anatomical abnormalities in MS vs Controls using
That is a signal piece of scientific thinking, normalizing to arterial blood flow. That was the stroke of genius that broke this controversy wide open. In my own words: when you compare jugular blood flow to a norm established by using the same group of patients' arterial blood flow (which should b...

Flow & anatomical abnormalities in MS vs Controls using MRI
Hello everyone, I am delighted to present this work fresh off the presses. Within the paper lies clear differences in venous anatomy in the MS and HC samples, but most importantly in jugular flow between the two. Also elucidated are the pitfalls of the Rodger and Traboulsee studies. Specifically, us...

Does anyone have a copy of this paper they could send me in a pvt message? I have a version, but the scan quality is very poor and hard to read,
thank you!

Re: study shows cerebral venous outflow is abnormal in MS
CONCLUSIONS: Alteration of cerebral venous blood outflow discriminated MS versus other neurologic diseases and MS versus healthy controls. The difference value between supine and sitting positions of cerebral venous blood outflow ≤ 503.24 was statistically associated with MS. Great news, this is ba...

Re: Debunking the latest study ‘debunking’ CCSVI
Thank you so much. It was a laborious effort and a culmination about about 4 years of processing and reviewing about 2000 MS cases from many different sites. I am really crossing my fingers for its acceptance. You can leave it up as I don't mind it being there so people can see what we are doing, I ...

Re: Debunking the latest study ‘debunking’ CCSVI
Yes, that is our work. I should mention that only the second abstract (138 vs 67) was literally submitted to American Journal of Neuroradiology last week. It is a very robust paper so I am excited and hopeful to hear back from them. The first abstract "Classification..." paper is not done ...

Re: Dr Traboulsee's venography imaging study
With such variability in the venous system size, it is no wonder there are so many false positives in the MS and normal groups when stenosis is determined as a percentage. We are looking at some of our MRI data right now to see if we can use their method to show the same results. Okay, so veins can...
