Re: Pregnancy and Copaxone

Thanks for your reply. I also ended up with postpartum hypothyroidism after I had my first baby. I saw my specialist about that yesterday and as long as I'm closely monitored with the next pregnancy I should be ok to have another baby. I think I'm going to put off starting any medication at this poi...

Pregnancy and Copaxone

I was diagnosed with MS 3 months ago and haven't started any treatment yet. I want to start trying for another baby but my neurologist wants to put me on treatment ASAP. I had a relapses 5 weeks ago and my legs stopped working, I fell and broke my arm. My neurologist is worried I'll get worse withou...

Re: My sister and I have MS

Hi Bryan, I'm so sorry to hear about your mum. It's a lot to deal with when your mum is sick and it's out of your control. Miracles do happen. I have seen my sister to the point of no return, only to recover a year later. It does happen. Try not to read all the horror stories. Everyone's experience ...

Re: My sister and I have MS

I have also heard about the link to the gut. And in my situation I think it's very relevant. I was severely ill for a year due to an issue with my gut. But this was 4 years ago. The first symptoms of MS I recall were two years ago, when I first started fertility treatment.

Re: Infertility treatments may significantly increase MS

I wouldn't go into panic mode just yet. I had fertility treatment with my son and although that was when my symptoms first started it may have been a coincident. When I saw my specialist and mentioned having another baby he told me not to wait and bring it forward if I could (my baby is 6 months so ...

Re: My sister and I have MS

It seems like there are a lot of people with family members who also have autoimmune diseases. And majority seem to be female. A lot of people I've spoken to also have low vitamin D levels. Surely there's a link.

Re: Newly diagnosed

I was was diagnosed with MS 2 months ago, it was a huge shock for me too. But if I let it bring me down and become depressed it would get me in the end. I'm stronger then that and have too much too live for. I wish you would also see the beauty in the world. MS is awful, 4 weeks ago I had a bad fall...

Re: Infertility treatments may significantly increase MS

Thanks for the response Gibbledygook. I've got an appointment to see my specialist on the 26th, I will ask him about my blood clotting and see if it's something I need to worry about. The last time I saw him we discussed having a baby and he was aware that I needed fertility treatment to have a baby...

Re: Infertility treatments may significantly increase MS

I had to have fertility treatment with my 6 month old. It was then that I first remember having symptoms of MS. I was diagnosed with MS two months ago. I now need to decide if I have another child before I have any treatment. I will need to have fertility treatment with this pregnancy as well. Do yo...

Re: My sister and I have MS

It seems like it is alot more commen then I realised. Over the last 10 years I have learnt alot about MS from my sister. In a way it really helps me. But on the other hand I also saw all the bad that happened to her when she was first diagnosed (she had 12 relapses in 1 year). That makes it hard for...

Re: Leaky Gut

I too have been wondering if this may have triggered my MS. 4 years ago I got really sick, my stomach hurt all the time and I would throw up often. I wasn't able to eat food without feeling sick. I was unwell for a year and the doctors weren't able to give me any answers. In the end they thought I h...

Re: My sister and I have MS

Hi Laura, Thanks for your reply. My mother has a thyroid condition, my auntie has rheumatoid arthritis, two of my cousins have autism, my grandmother has a B12 deficiency. Besides the MS I had an over active thyroid which came on after the birth of my son. My doctor said the pregnancy brought it on....

My sister and I have MS

My sister was diagnosed with MS 10 years ago. 2 months ago I had a MRI scan which confirmed that I too had MS. What are the chances? Apparently 3%. Is it just pure coincidence or just bad luck? They say it's not genetic but why does my family have numerous amounts of autoimmune system diseases? That...

Re: Mom has MS, now I do...

Don't you find it strange that your mum has MS as well? I was just recently diagnosed with MS, which was a total shock since my sister also has it. If they say it's not genetic then what are the chances that we both have it?
