Re: CCSVI dead - surely an apology needed from Cheerleader

My husband's MRIs are all at Stanford, looked at by same techs--they reported remyelination of lesions, no new lesions and reversal of gray matter since his venoplasty procedure in 2009. I do not have the MRI films on disc. Here is Jeff today, conducting the Boston Symphony Orchestra. https://www.y...

Re: CCSVI dead - surely an apology needed from Cheerleader

Over half of the patients had benefit in repaired cerebral blood flow and no new lesions. Sadly, only 54% of people treated had lasting repair to blood flow. The rest restenosed. Is there actually any data to suggest that flow restoration correlated with outcome? It is certainly possible that there...

It just made their visual evoked potentials look better. Who cares.

Re: MS Protocol

Basically, it is just an optimized protocol for looking at MS lesions There are different protocols at different institutions for multiple sclerosis. Many protocols often include specific sequences such as T2 sagittal FLAIR which is good for looking at corpus callosum lesions. Often, the protocol sp...

Re: MRI report

to MRNA: Radiologists often read films in a broad way because they do no know the clinical history of the patient. Many people have non-specific benign white matter lesions that are insignificant. These are common in people as they get older, but they can also be seen in young people, especially tho...

Re: Sometimes cures may just turn out to be worse than disea

Well, with all due respects and given that we simply don't know each other, I simply have no comments about your quirky reply. What I was trying to say is that the potential side effects of the drugs and the potential conflicts of interests of the prescribers are irrelevant. Many people with chroni...

According to the Prescribing Information and the Mayo Clinic description, there are also increased risks of lymphoma, skin cancer and PML.

Re: Anybody taking imuran?

imuran is probably comparable in efficacy to beta IFN in relapsing multiple sclerosis. Potential side effects include gastrointestinal upset, elevated liver function tests, and immunosuppression. Imuran is easier to take and less expensive compared to beta interferons but is probably somewhat less s...

Hey Frodo. Thank you for your posts in this section. You are single-handedly keeping this section alive. Re: more evidence against the autoimmune model

The connection to EBV and autoimmunity are not necessarily mutually exclusive. One of the theories about the pathogenesis of MS is that b cells are infected by EBV and become less regulated by CD25 regulatory t cells. Just because abnormal immune system function may be the "proximate" caus...
