Re: JCV and BG-12

Being new to this forum...I think a reply is due? I am assuming ladymac is referring to my post, in the accusal of being an alarmist? I concur, there is 'erroneous crap on the internet.' I strive to avoid it. I am a Registered Nurse, and strive to read scholarly articles, research and other medical ...

Re: JCV and BG-12

In the above article, entitled: "Who the Hell was John Cunningham" the following was eerily familiar with my health concerns at present, and phrase, in quotes, did concern me, and motivated me to research more about this JC Virus. Here is the quote from the article: " Cunningham had b...

Re: Betaseron & Cessation of Kidney Stones on Treatment!!

That article is VERY interesting. I shared it with my endocrinologist's PA in hopes that a nurse will share it, being that docs have not, in my case. Having had stones since 1997, practically every 8 weeks for so many years, with all my doctors only saying to me the following: "If you are a sto...

Re: MS Interferon Drugs -- Brain Atrophy and Other Problems

What is the MOST discouraging about this is: 1-I never knew it, or found such research when I said 'yes' to taking betaseron. 2-No Neuro reads the MRI reports the same...so, I feel like I never really know the full extent of my MRI reports. 3-I KNOW I have had more issues in the year since I stopped...

Betaseron & Lupus Risk !!!! ???

I was on Betaseron from August 2011-June 2012. My new neuro has informed me that Betaseron use has a risk of producing Lupus!! But, a secondary 'advantage' of having Lupus, is that the meds used to treat Lupus, actually are better choices for treatment of MS?!?!?! BUT, MS drugs are bad for setting o...

Betaseron & Cessation of Kidney Stones on Treatment!!

I have had Kidney stones about every 8 weeks since 1997. Sadly, they were 'normal' to me...I had a urologist tell me, 'there is nothing you can do about stones, just get use to having them!' (yes, there are Jerk doctors out there!) Thankfully, patients READ!! and can become educated about their cond...

Re: Cost Dimethyl fumarate (Techfiodra).

I was recommended to start BG 12 upon it's release after Betaseron complications, and then Copaxone Complications. It was expected to come out in May 2013, and apparently, was released in April 2013. When I came in for a problem visit with my Neuro's PA, they were eager to start me on BG12, aka, Tec...

Vitamin D Deficiency in MS

Just wanted to post a comment about the Vitamin D research. My best understanding of the ''job' of Vitamin D is to transport calcium from the GI tract, into the bloodstream. Vitamin D levels are directly impacted by the level of Calcium in the blood stream. To maintain the proper, delicate, balance ...
