Re: Sometimes cures may just turn out to be worse than disea

There is a quick rule of thumb that Dopamine deficiency = Parkinsons disease. An excess of Dopamine = schizophrenia Most of us are somewhere in between. Quite often the first diagnosis of Parkinsons (in the UK) is made following the administration of dopamine (usually co-careldopa as Sinemet or Mado...

Re: Peeing my pants in the Walmart parking lot

No, it was not Walmart, but "been there - done that" The thing that works for me is a swo pronged approach 1 - Is Tamsulosin (Flomax, Diffundox). This acts to relax smooth muscle tissue (think the bladder muscles). I get maybe 5 minutes warning instead of 30 seconds. 2 - Is a portable plastic urinal...

Re: News report about me

I'm with Lynda on this one. Note that City Assays, Birmingham (a part of the NHS) will do a Vit D blood test for £28 for UK residents, and for £33 for overseas (think about $40). The results come by e-mail. £6000 (£7200) is high for a mobility scooter in the UK, and her local council should be able ...

Re: Improvements??

Hi Phil No constipation issues, but maybe (just maybe) Biotin has been responsible for increased spasticity in my legs. This was no problem until after 6 months of Biotin - then both legs started going into hyperextension and relaxing again after 15-20 seconds. I believe that this has been reported ...

Re: Improvements??

Yes, I have seen a number of small improvements (so has my physio) in less than 9 months. Starting from EDSS of 6.5, I did not expect a major improvement. However if it does not work for you, then it probably won't. Most medication is like that (boo, hiss). Still, if you are SPMS, what else is there...

Laquinimod is not exactly new:

shows how long it has been in development.

Re: THERE IS NO MONEY IN THE CURE!

OMG, the conspiracy fundamentalists are crawling out of the woodwork again. Of course there is money in a cure. The first drug company to come up with a real cure will knock all the rest out of the market and make millions. You only have to consider the way in which Teva sought to delay approval of ...

Re: side effects?

So far. i have not noticed any unusual shivering. What I am interested in it the several reports of leg spasticity. For me, this takes the form of both legs going into hyperextension - mainly in the morning before getting up - for a few seconds at a time. I have also had a few instances of my left l...

The other problem with the Facebook group that undisclosED mentioned, is finding it!
A friend (in the Biotin Instruction group hws tried, and Facebook will not let him see it.
Maybe they think that with 3900 members they need no more.

Re: GrassrootsHealth newsletter re: Coimbra Protocol

My first reaction was simple: If high doses of Biotin work, why not Vit D? My second was that I know of someone who effectively ODed on 1o,ooo iu daily, and took several months to recover. At the dosages suggested by Dr Coimbra, I would be on 95,000 iu daily, this would involve a huge amount of fait...

How one can discuss the relationship between cognitive activity and sporting performance without any mention of the Jones and Hardy book "Stress and Performance in Sport" escapes me.

Re: New MS treatment can halt progression

First off, this work has been reported numerous times. It is not "new", but rather a slightly new way of implementing an existing approach. The big thing about it is that Atkins and Freedman do seem to have the balance about right. Second, if you look at the Lancet paper, one thing leaps out. There ...

Re: Data on MS ‘vaccine’ Xemys released

The absence of a control group is not a good reason to criticize a Phase IIA clinical trial, since the purpose of a IIA trial is to determine the appropriate dosage. However, the story itself is interesting (and contains ample grounds for criticism). We have a story put out by a UK organization who ...

Re: New treatment forum - Biotin

Being EDSS 6.5, I did not expect major improvements. What I did get were some small improvements in the ability to move my left foot/ankle/toes. These were observable by my physio. Lately, I have been able to walk (lurch) a few steps without support. The net effect is to make it easier for my FES to...
