Re: looking for bloodwork advice

THANK YOU so much! I could not have figured that out myself. I was hoping there might be a smoking gun, but ruling things out is half the battle.

My doc is on board for me to up magnesium & zinc. Then it's off to a sleep study for me.

Thanks again for taking the time to do this.

Re: looking for bloodwork advice

Alright, the results are posted in my e-chart. Everything came back normal, but I don't know about "optimal." I tried to do a little comparison with some of jimmylegs's older posts and just totally confused myself as these aren't even units of measure I'm familiar with, so the conversions ...

Re: looking for bloodwork advice

No prioritization needed. Sent the list in via electronic chart messaging & received a reply within 14 minutes. "I have orders in for these tests as well as kidney function testing, blood sugar, thyroid testing and complete blood cell counts. You can call to schedule an appointment and a fo...

Re: looking for bloodwork advice

All right, I think I've successfully compiled a list of tests to ask for. This is what I've got. Am I missing anything? My doc posts all test results in my online chart, so I should be able to get a good look at them. Then I can adjust diet/supplements accordingly. Serum testing for: • Vitamin B12 (...

Re: Diagnosis MS

Yep, I was diagnosed out of the blue in July and, aside from obnoxious symptoms & fatigue, my life hasn't changed much. My neuro fully approved my 4 step plan to manage (in the short term, as we all know things can change) 1. Take a DMD & do annual checkups. Very personal decision, I wouldn'...

Re: looking for bloodwork advice

Anonymoos, Thanks. It was interesting though a bit over my head. I will check for anemia, but I would think my omnivorous ways would prevent that? Maybe Tec does do something funky. I wonder if anyone gives educational grants to new MSers...I can see I'm going to need some organic chemistry, if not ...

Re: looking for bloodwork advice

Yikes! No, I really don't eat Mayo by the cupful. I meant 1-2 T to 1/2c. ;) Thank you so much for the helpful advice; I'm quite amazed at the time you spend helping others. Very helpful on the supplement washout especially. I never would have thought of that. I would LOVE to add oatmeal; I sort of n...

Re: looking for bloodwork advice

No worries on the masculine pronoun, though that would make my choice of vitamin seem suboptimal, I suppose. I have obnoxious tingling & painful paresthesias, hence the gabapentin. And bone crushing fatigue, hence only taking it after work, as it's very sleepifying for me. FATIGUE, as in being a...

Re: looking for bloodwork advice

Thanks to all for the helpful replies. Here's the requested details on my diet. The gratitude diet may be a family term that's not widely used: 'thank you Lord that I have food to eat. I did the best I could with what I have, now you take it from here.' It just means I'm eating cheap. :) It's easier...

looking for bloodwork advice

I'm planning for an appt with my GP. I'd like to have a full blood workup & check the levels of key things that tend to be wonky in MS patients. So far, I have Vit D, zinc & magnesium on my list. Anything else I'm missing? No idea if this is appropriate on the forum, but I'm going to go ahea...

Re: Tecfidera - cold and flu - Anyone getting sick more?

I've been on Tec since 10 August & have had: a viral eye infection usually seen only in children or the immunosuppressed, viral menningitis,2 colds that lasted a week each. Hard to say if the Tec's to blame. Drop in WBC at first but elevated ever since. I will say, tho, that the side effects amel...

Re: Who to tell? What to tell? How much to tell?

All good advice; thanks everyone. I will continue to share with people who need to know and let the rest think what they will. I laughed out loud at the "novelty of your situation will wear off." I have been a bit self-absorbed lately and probably no one else thinks about me as often as I ...

Re: Side effects

So sorry you are having such a hard time. Hopefully you have a MS Neurologist Specialist at an MS Center. I would recommend you call him/her and see if you can talk to them or see them. What other medications do you take? Morning, Afternoon and evening? Perhaps there is something going on with the ...

Re: Side effects

Day 16 and I'm dying here. The first 12 days were fine, following the diet/OTC suggestions from the forum. The last 3 have been miserable. Insomnia, fatigue, symptoms, side effects, weight gain. Fatigue is killing me...walking to meetings at work was the extent of today's exercise. Abdominal pain li...

Who to tell? What to tell? How much to tell?

Just diagnosed 6 weeks ago & I pretty much blurted to everyone I know. Well, that's exaggerating, but I told 4 people at work, 4 at church, a support group I'm in, and my whole family. And my hairdresser--but that was imperative, as I was losing function in my left hand & needed a carefree s...
