Re: partner ended our relationship

Are you sure Sarah Longlands actually had MS? So many other diseases can look like MS, like Lyme disease, for example. Anyway, the antibiotics would be worth a try. As for your BF, (and I realize that opinion may be a little late now since months have passed), I would do a last try, and the respect ...

Re: Calling all caregivers and family!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, my husband has PMS and has been hospitalized now for about 4 years. He lies on his back all day, alone in his room, unable to move except his left arm and hand. He is starting to have cognitive problems (hallucinations, confusions) so now after seeing his body going, I'm looking at his mind go...

Re: Do your friends and family typically check up on you?

I am sorry about the void you must feel around you. This is what happens, because relationships shift, but there's no reason you cannot find new relationships. Friends and family typically have no idea what you're going though. The less you tell them (unless they *genuinely* ask), the better it is. ...

Re: end of life issues

Thank you all for your replies. The MS society does not have anything about end of life issues, except just a dry .pdf listing all the things that can go wrong (not being able to swallow, and then a tube can be used, etc.) Pretty dry, clinical stuff, and not a peep about resources specially dedicate...

Re: Newly Dating a man with MS

One thing I forgot to ask, very important for you to find out : is it the Progressive kind, or the Relapsing/Remitting? It makes a big, big difference. You'll find out that Progressive is totally not on the radar for *any* medication.

Re: Need some advice

Dear One, I understand your frustration. But at this point, you're not helping him, you're enabling him. You need to take care of yourself first, as a person, and as a caregiver if you so choose to be. That means to tell him: either he goes for therapy (he is obviously very depressed --- and who wou...

Re: Newly Dating a man with MS

I'm adding a .pdf created by the MS society about caregivers for people who have MS, that will give you an idea of what may be in store for you: http://www.nationalmssociety.org/NationalMSSociety/media/MSNationalFiles/Brochures/Guidebook-Caring-for-Loved-Ones-with-Advanced-MS-A-Guide-for-Families.pd...

end of life issues

I see, being new to this forum and having vaguely browsed through the forum categories, that there is no mention of the end of life issues. My husband is presently paralyzed (except for his left arm and hand), living in a nursing home, and is starting to have hallucinations and delusions brought by ...

Dear One, Question 1: Ask him this question! :) Question 2: You will not have a normal life. You will be a caregiver and a nurse more than a wife or partner. With no time off. It will get worse and worse. You will grieve all the way. You will have to summon up tons of energy to prop your partner up,...
