Re: Please help!!! Symptoms
There are definitely many possible causes to check out before an MS diagnosis can be made. I am going through that right now and have been tested for lots of stuff. Dr. even thought about testing for syphilis but decided not to. In any event, I have decided not to "trust" my general practi...

Re: Some blood tests back
They did not order any mineral tests. All the tests were done with blood draws...does that mean serum? I have an appointment with a neurologist next month. Yay! I have started to notice some tingling in my lips in the last week, yuck. Even so, after reading posts from others who have severe symptoms...

Re: Multiple symptoms, multiple tests, Multiple Sclerosis???
Sorry that you are going through this. It is terrible. MS can result in so many different symptoms it would not be possible for any of us to say whether you have it or not. I'm seeing a specialist about MS next month and am playing the waiting game like you. However, my symptoms are not as dramatic....

Re: So confused
I have been told not to trust a radiologist with an MS diagnosis as they may not get the right answer. I would recommend seeing an MS specialist. That is what I am doing, although frustrated that my appointment is not until October 26. Thinking about calling somewhere else to see if I can find an ea...

Re: So confused
The advice I received, and which I think is good, was to make sure your MRI is being read by a Neurologist that is an MS specialist. Radiologists and other Neurologists do not have the same level of training.
Of course this assumes that you are worried about MS.
Who read your MRI?

Brain MRI - what to ask for
My GP has ordered a brain MRI. Could someone please help me understand what I need. This is for my first visit with a neuro and I have never had one before. Should it have contrast? Are there different levels of MRI and should I ask for something specific. I have the Dr order from my GP but have not...

Re: Appointment with MS specialist
No Cleveland Clinic that I know of. I am in Maine and we have a significant shortage of MS specialists. Particularly in the Northern/Western part of the state. We have the highest per capital incidence of MS in the US (based on self reporting) but few specialists. I am in southern Maine and there ar...

Re: This is for my husband
Sorry that your husband is going through this, and you with him. Very hard. Some of the symptoms are very similar to mine, such as lower back pain and not being able to tie shoes, bowel problems, memory problems, fatigue, night sweats and mood swings with depression. It is very frustrating. I am jus...

First Dr appointment with GP
Interesting appointment and went much as I expected. Told the Dr all my symptom, most of which he said can be caused by many different things. He told me he doesn't thing I have MS because my symptoms are not caused by MS. He was focusing on numbness and poor balance. He tested numbness by running h...

Re: Need to share story and get advice
Hi Jeff, My name is also Jeff and I understand how you feel. I have been having some issues lately too that seem to indicate MS, but of course it could be something else like B12, lyme, etc. I have not had any tests yet. Tomorrow is my first appoint with my GP. Now have sciatica type pain so bad alm...

Pain in Sacrum - DR appt tomorrow
I just returned from vacation in a nice sunny location...yay. However, during my trip I started to experience a little bit of discomfort in my sacrum. I've had a little twinge there for about two years. Nothing too serious. I initially dismissed it as related to increased physical activity. I starte...

Tai Chi
I have been practicing Tai Chi for over two years. I started because my health was deteriorating and I had significant back pain. Many of my symptoms abated in the first 18 months. About 6 months ago my symptoms started to get worse, particularly in the last 2 months. I can only wonder how bad I wou...
