The neurologist's tests

I'm just wondering about all those tests a neurologist performs, like reflexes and point your finger to your nose, etc etc. Is it possible to have MS even if all those tests turn out normal?

If Baclofen works...

...does that indicate the symptoms come from MS, or will Baclofen give relief no matter what causes the spasticity /neuropathy etc? I'm waiting for MRI and that whole jazz, but my GP started me on Baclofen a month to see if it might help with symptoms. And it does! It really seems to help, which is ...

Re: Spine uncomfortable to touch

Please understand doctors have been of *no* help to me this far, hence me turning to an internet forum where people at least have experience and knowledge built on living with diagnosed illnesses. Maybe some day I will be taken seriously and get proper diagnosis (whatever it turns out to be) and tre...

Re: Trigeminal neuralgia = MS?

Yeah it gets really bad at times. It's one of my worst symptoms.

B12 deficiency can lead to nerve damage, so I'm hoping the injections will help me over time. But I'm not sure my B12 is low "enough" to cause the amount of symptoms I'm experiencing...

Spine uncomfortable to touch

I've noticed that my whole spine is extremely sensitive to touch. Every time my partner accidently touches my spine, when hugging or giving a massage, I jerk away or even yell. Getting my spine touched is not directly painful, but it's highly uncomfortable, I immediately feel nausea and strong tingl...

Re: Is "flu" symptoms common?

Thanks for your replies, it's much appreciated. I've only taken the vit D3 for about six weeks, because the doc said levels should be in upper range. Before this I've never taken vit D as supplement. I can post the blood levels tomorrow. Same doc also said I should increase Magnesium to 400 a day. S...

Re: Trigeminal neuralgia = MS?

Thank you. I'm from Europe, currently an international student in Africa. I will probably get an MRI that's covered when I go back home. Until then, I'm trying to cope as best I can, and try to figure out if there are any other illnesses that can give the same symptoms, that can be tested more easil...

Re: Is "flu" symptoms common?

Magnesium Glycinate 200mg, 1 or 2 tablets a day (evening) and sometimes magnesium spray for cramps/restless legs. I take zinc and selenium supplements several days a week. B12 level was 205 two months ago (reference lowest level 137 in this country) and I'm now on B12 injections. The other tests are...

Re: Is "flu" symptoms common?

Thanks. I eating ridiculously healthy and nutrient dense, and taking an array of supplements, incl. magnesium. When I got sick three years ago (which became chronic with different symptoms waxing and waning), part of the symptom "package" was extremely sore throat + the above mentioned sym...

Is "flu" symptoms common?

Sorry another symptom question from me. Is it a common symptom with MS to have "flu" symptoms like sore throat, blocked nose, runny nose and eyes, sneezing, feeling of fever? Or would this rather indicate some sort of virus or allergies?

Re: Trigeminal neuralgia = MS?

Re: B1, thanks for that. I'm taking a vitamin B complex daily, plus extra folate and other cofactors for B12 since I get B12 injections almost weekly. I'm aware of being cautious of B6, it's only a small amount of it in the B complex. I can try supplementing with extra B1 in addition, and see if it ...

Re: Trigeminal neuralgia = MS?

Thanks for the EBV info, I did have that infection in my teens. I will look further into it, and the medication you recommended. I know EBV is a b*tch and can trigger autoimmune issues and reactivate. It's hard to get an MRI when I have to pay for it myself... It's very expensive to put it mildly. I...

Re: Trigeminal neuralgia = MS?

Thanks for your replies. I have seen a neurologist, he wanted me to do an MRI, but still trying to solve the issue of how to cover it (health insurance doesn't cover.) I tried searching the forum, but didn't find any specific answers to this. I find my symptoms concerning, but I've had a few doctors...
